Now he's had a "warning stroke" and they found a hole in his heart.

    Link.

Poor guy. He should be OK though.

It seems like a lot of people that use steroids get problems with their hearts that their PR guys say was common in the family or something.

^ Why do you say that?

He was diagnosed with Diabetes at 6 years old, so I think it's rather unlikely he was a steroid abuser.

He probably thinks we're talking about Sean Micheals and is lacking the ability to contextualize today.

Do diabetics ever get prescribed steroids?

I have a breathing condition known as sarcoidosis, and am on a form of steroid, at least for several months.

But I think most heart defects (like a hole) are congenital, or at least genetic, aren't they?

Well, steroids can raise your blood sugar levels significantly by affecting the release of insulin, so they are not used to treat diabetics.

But I may be wrong, i'm not a doctor or anything.

No, at least not to directly treat their diabetes. In the rare case that an individual is allergic to insulin and cannot be desensitized, he may be prescribed a steroid to treat the allergy.

Anyway, I hope he'll be okay. I was diagnosed with type 1 at a young age too, and I remember my sister making a list of all the celebrities who had it for me. Of course he was on the list.

Is Bret Michaels one of those wrestlers? If not, then I was wrong. If he is, then I stand by what I said.

On top of ignoring doctor's orders by going on the finale of Celebrity Apprentice, he showed up for the American Idol finale.

He better take it a little easy.

He looked & sounded pretty good on the clip from Idol though. I saved the clip, I've never watched the show or any of the like.

He looked alright in Apprentice and on Idol so it seems like he's recovering well. But yeah, he should take it easy and recover like a normal human.

He can still do things. Just because he's gonna have surgery or something doesn't mean he's going to be helpless.

No one said he was helpless. His doctors seem to want him to take it easy though.

That's true. But I'm sure it's hard for someone who have been doing what they want and all of a sudden have to "take it easy", especially at a young age. I'm sure he'll be ok.
