    Hey Everybody...

Was working on a new image tonight, based on some suggestions from the Dark Of The Moon thread... I think it came out really well. :)

We have the Starship Challenger, studying Io in the Jupiter system, when an unprecedented super-eruption nearly destroys the ship!

    Hope y'all like it. :)

The work is excellent. But why is a starship studying Io, when there's a manned space station in orbit of Jupiter that can do the same work without tying up a valuable starship? And I can't imagine Io would ever erupt so violently that an orbiting starship would be endangered - the shields should be able to easily handle a simple volcanic eruption from orbit. Or am I over-thinking this image?

    Thanks guys. :)

I wouldn't say that you are over thinking it, but there could be several reasons they needed Challenger to stop by and take a look. I wanted it to look like more than just a simple volcanic eruption, so it could be some research gone wrong or something like that.

Really, I just thought it would look cool. :D

    Thanks guys. :)

I don't really take requests any more, since I don't have as much time to work on 3D stuff as I used to.

I do take suggestions, though, like with the idea about Io from the other thread. :)

Appart of the scale issues between the ship, Jupiter and Io, the image looks a beauty. ;)

Scale issues? In Star Trek? :)

Well, the ship is pretty far away from Io by now, so that part is OK. I figure they would have done an emergency full impulse maneuver or something, to get well away from it as soon as it started. Jupiter could have been bigger, but I wanted the red spot recognizable. :)

That image of Jupiter I got was pretty washed out, but after a couple of modification layers above it, I really got the colors to pop out.

    :)

    Wow... Great as usual!

By the way are there any other views of your Challenger around? Looked in your ship yard and came up empty handed.

    Again great stuff!

    Regards,
    Chuck

Thank you sir! The design seems to have the right stuff for a transition from the TMP era to the JJ era.

I like that the nacelles are spaced further apart, that's my biggest beef with the current version of the Enterprise. :techman:

Eh, sounds like just another day in the life of a Starfleet vessel.

That is what deflector shields are (partially) there for.

I love it and I always love your work. But my really minor quibble is I like the blue Nacelles and deflector dish better.

But other than that great work as usual. :bolian:

The HD is really nice to look at, as is the smaller resolution. Great job.
