I'll be busy with the lunar new year. Besides, as a lifetimer I'm only allowed on the 2nd and 3rd beta weekends.

WOULD be nice to see where all the money and resources that should have been going back into STO went, I suppose. Then again, I've kinda lost faith in Cryptic over the past couple years, and am here because it's Star Trek and because I've got a lot of money tied up into it. Not really interested in tying myself to them with a 2nd game, I guess...

Neverwinter: Seemed like the servers were offline most of time. I was able to login on Sunday for 30 minutes before they took the shard "done for maintenance". It was frustrating not to have any ranged dps options. Also the only weapons available appeared to be swords. Oh well, this was just a beta run. I decided to test run a dwarf defender (tank). If you participate in the next beta, look for Rusty Ironfyst on the Dragon shard.

The friend panel is PWE-wide, so you can see your STO friends. A big marketing push was the selling of Founder packs, $199 and $59 which allows players to choose the Drow race plus gives a few trickets. Character movement was difficult for me. It was a combination of the mouse selecting the bearing and the wasd keys for movement.

That is not a good sign. Normally, Cryptic organizes these "early access" betas about a month or two prior to launch day in order to ensure that their servers can take the load. And for a realistic test, pretty much all but one or two game features should be fully playable.

Yep, I got the impression that they weren't really ready for the beta. The servers were down a lot and they pushed out a patch during the beta.

Plus we know that Crytic is a small team. If they are dividing their time or people between STO and Neverwinter...

Actually, that's normal behavior for the first open beta. In fact, that's the goal of open betas. The servers are being swamped for the very first time, they are bound to go down to the heavy load as the servers hit bottlenecks the devs had never anticipated. The systems team will be busy patching fixes for these bottlenecks over the week and you will find that the servers will get better and better at handling the workload with each open weekend.

Trust me, there is a totally separate dev team for Neverwinter. Neverwinter has a separate dev budget, enough for a full team. It would be totally insane to share a single dev team for the two games.

Just re-enforces my SOP, don't touch a game until it's burned in a little... (I only participated in the NW beta because I was invited by a STO buddy.)

On a different note, did everyone get all their accolades from the Ent-C mission? I think I found 6, don't know if I missed any... And visit all the people in the work camp. You might find a few familiar faces.

Update - I got 9 accolades on the mission yesterday. To be fair, one was a normal combat accolade. So here's what I got from the Temporal Ambassador mission:

    Alternate Allies
    Dead Jim
    Wisest Tribble
    Temporal Treasure Hunting
    Remember Where We Parked
    Don't Quit your Day Job
    Now you C Me
    Third Anniversary

    Anyone get anything different? Thanks

They've extended the deadline, so you still have time to get your accolades. :-)

Yep. Saw that when I logged on this morning.

Did we manage to complete the holiday featured project or did it get cancelled?

Cool. I only ask, because I didn't make it to the starbase this morning and was only holiday last week. It's coming along nicely. :)

It wouldn't have gotten auto-cancelled anyway.

They gave exclusive cancel power for that project to fleet leaders instead.

What exactly do you have to do to get this one and "Now you C Me"?

People said all you needed to do is stop for at least 30 seconds at the tunnel with the three force fields that leads towards the Enterprise-C. I played it safe and stopped for at least 30 seconds before bringing down each force field.
