This is a fun little game that I've picked up at a message board. The object of the game is to reveal the quote that is "the puzzle".

    - Format of the puzzle:

(line)/~(who said it):(Trek Episode or movie)

    - Words that are hidden consist of -(x the number of letters in the word) and / signify the spaces in the sentence, like this:

    -/--/------.

    I am Legend.

    - Punctuation and numbers(as long as it is not first, second, ect.) is okay to reveal in the puzzle.

    - You may ask for a vowel(Y doesn't count as a vowel) every five letters, and you may guess at the puzzle at any time, but you can't ask for a letter and guess at the puzzle on the same post. You must wait for the puzzle to update before you solve it.

    - Guess correctly, and you have control of the "wheel" and put up a new quote. Every quote is like a new game.

    - One special rule that I must place here. Do NOT indicate what series the quote comes from in the puzzle. Also do not put "Star Trek (#):" when a movie is involved in the puzzle. Refer to Star Trek 1 as "The Motion Picture" and Star Trek XI as just Star Trek in your puzzle. Odds are good that it will give away the quote more often than if it isn't in the puzzle in the first place.

I've kept you waiting long enough, here is your first puzzle:

    -/-------/-----/---/---/-------/---------/--/----/39/---/----/-------/-----/--./~-------/-./-----:/-------'-/-------

So just to clarify, this is like hang-man or wheel of fortune or something right where we guess one letter at a time?

It has elements of both games, but with these differences:

    1. You can not guess a vowel at any time like hang-man. Much like WoF, you can only guess with a vowel when you meet the prerequisite. ($250 in WoF. Every five letters in this case)

    2. There isn't a hang-man's noose where after so many wrong letter guesses you automatically lose the game. Like WoF, you DO lose if you solve the puzzle incorrectly while others may have a crack at the puzzle.

Other than that, guess one letter at a time and see where it lands in the quote.

    B?

Also, do you mean after 5 letters guessed or 5 letters put up on the board?

    LETTERS USED: B, S

Five letters guessed. right now the group is three away from being able to ask for a vowel.

I have a question: Can we use Memory Alpha for clues? Because I am prepared to solve the puzzle now, but only through information gleaned for Memory Alpha.

^You mean "discretion." If you'd rather I don't, that's fine. I don't want to ruin the game for everyone. It's just that I'm mainly a TOS man, and I'm not as familiar with the other series', so this is the only way I can keep up. :)
