Lot of stuff was meh about (Cabin, TDKR), but kind of surprised at just how disappointing Prometheus was. Was equally pleasantly surprised at Skyfall.

for me tv sucked all the way around. There wasn't one new show that could hold my interest and rightfully so most of them were cancelled. And returning shows like revenge , supernatural, fringe and vampire diaries showed they had no creativity left.

cable wasn't any better. Music continued its downward spiral with the likes of Taylor swift, Justin bieber, one direction, Carly Rae jepsen. The cable news channel proved just as irrelevant.

I'll agree that Fringe isn't so hot anymore. But I still watch it. Only three more weeks, until the series finale episode. (I don't watch any of the other shows mentioned).

I've been watching returning shows like Hawaii Five-0, Nikita, and Person of Interest. But so far I've found these shows' recent episodes to be kinda lackluster, compared to their previous season(s).

I really liked season 1 (2011-2012) of Person of Interest. But so far season 2 seems kinda lackluster.

I gave up on new music many years ago. :)

This type of comment always confuses me. Every year in every decade in the last 60 plus years has always had its fair share of mindless teen oriented pop. It not a downward spiral its a steady level.

Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock - I love Amy Poehler and Tina Fay (In fact, I'm looking forward to the Golden Globes because they both are hosting) and their respective comedies have been a blast to watch this year, especially Parks. I mean I can sit down and watch these and after the episode, feel really really happy with life. For example, there are a couple episodes of Parks this season that really shocked me how much heart it had: The Leslie/Ben Proposal, and Ron really letting Diane in.

The Avengers - Marvel got these series of movies right and I had fun watching The Avengers this year. Looking forward to I guess phase 2.

Glee - I was ready to jump ship on Glee before the 4th season, but there is something that brings me back. I think it's the phrase I've heard time and again about Season 4 being the new Season 1. I actually can agree with that statement. More often than not, Glee has hit the right notes this year, and their Super Hero episode, while really corny, was one of the series best in a long long time.

TNG on Blu-Ray - This was media in 2012 so I'm including it. I'm learned a lot watching these special features of a show I call classic, and the series itself is beautiful in HD, especially season 1.

    Most Disappointing

I don't like Worst, since it's such a strong word, so I'll go with Disappointing

Prometheus - We had Ridley Scott going back to the Alien franchise and this movie left me cold. It wasn't bad, but it should have been a whole lot more.

The Dark Knight Rises - Maybe the shootings in Aurora overshadowed this movie for me, but my reaction to this movie is like a common criticism against Skyfall was it not feeling like a Bond film. DKR didn't feel like a Batman movie. Hell, out of a close to 3 hour movie, we only got, what, an hour of Batman? Not a good follow up to The Dark Knight

I want Space Operas to come back - How long has it been since BSG? I miss the space operas and I would love for one to just be on somewhere. I've had enough of super heroes, vampires, and the like. Maybe I'm just stuck in the 90s, but Space Opera's are cool, dammit.

Best movies- Django Unchained (movie of the year imo), Skyfall, Avengers. I also liked Prometheus a lot in spite of it's flaws.

TV- I don't watch much TV. Mad Men is still excellent

Good call on both counts. I love those shows. 30 Rock is almost over...

    :(

I really enjoy American Horror Story.

I didn't see too many movies this year. I thought TDKR was bloated and messy. Batman is my favorite superhero, but this one just didn't do it for me. I loved The Hobbit, though.

As for music, well...I bought three albums in 2012: Octane Twisted by Porcupine Tree, A Different Kind of Truth by Van Halen, and Clockwork Angels by Rush.

Just to update OP: stuff I enjoyed even if all had problems...
Starship Troopers:Invasion - bad character CG but the most bug hunt fun since original :)
    Ted
    Avengers
    Dark Shadows (though a mess)
    2 Days In New York
    Breaking Dawn Part 2 (yup)

    TV: Homeland

    WORST:
Dredd - dull and unoriginal. Waste of good actors. Score was okay-ish though.

I can't imagine why Skyfall rates so highly. It's way to long for no good reason at all. I'm baffled by how thin the story was. And how it goes from place to place for no good reason except that the locations look cool and they are filmed in a Nolan-esque way. The bad guy is in Shanghai because Shanghai looks awesome on film. That's the only reason. He could have gone down the hall to beat up that bad guy. And that bad guy had a casino chip so Bond could have another gratuitous scene in a casino, which led him to yet another location, an island that looked like it belonged in Inception. This movie was pointless.

    Best movie: The Master
    Best TV show: Breaking Bad

I didn't see any movies I disliked and I don't watch TV shows that I don't enjoy so I can't comment on the worst of the year.
