I have yet to find my sweet spot, as I'm still ranking upwards. Just a commander in a heavy escort refit. But I'm going to keep moving up with the escorts for the time being and have started a second character that I'm going to follow up the cruiser line.

Seems like there is a pretty good balance of ships to play styles, because everyone has a different opinion!

On average, it seems like the sweet spot for my characters was around the high Captain, low Rear Admiral range. That's when you have access to the more capable ships and your Bridge Officers can have their full skill set.

I like the Defiant better than the Promethius and plan to get the Defiant Refit when my Tac officer reached that level. Most people give the Defiant a "meh", but I just like it better. Plus for some reason, I don't like ships that separate. My Galaxy Refit has been in mothballs since my Engr picked it up.

Yesterday I finally completed the MK XI MACO ground gear set for my main toon. I must say that I am impressed with how well it performs. I'm still missing the MK XII MACO engine, and unfortunately it did not turn up in the 2 successful runs I had yesterday.

Way to go. Perhaps when things settle down for me, you can teach me the ropes on those STFs.

Btw, for all the players in Germany/Europe:

Fedcon XXI will be held at the Hotel Maritim in Düsseldorf, Germany, from May 17-20. In attendance will be William Shatner, Gates McFadden, Jonathan Frakes, Walter Koenig, J.G. Hertzler, Robert O’Reilly, Garrett Wang, Eddie Paskey (Lt. Leslie) and Richard Arnold.

I've tried to go before, but couldn't get off work. Right now though the calendar looks clean so I may try again.

I had a fun idea for a final bridge crew for my nearly capped Borg Klingon.

Instead of random Boffs, I will create a sort of Rogue Gallery of Star Trek with all sorts of major villains from all shows/movies, depending on which I can recreate at the tailor.

I may need Methos' photoshopskills to set up a crew shot of them. :D

I was overflowing in ec, so bought 5 master keys today...

    Box 1: Starship Console
    Box 2: Junior Doffs
    Box 3: Galor!!!

Should I use the remaining two keys?

Well, you've already bought the keys so why not.

Yeah I used up the 2 keys, got crap :P

Still, now that I have the Galor I can skip purchasing the Odyssey since they're both pro-engineer ships. This opens up the option for me to buy ships for my other characters.

Nice going. I assume these were the rare gold lock boxes? I've been saving up EC, buying a key, and opening the regular boxes and selling the contents for more EC. I was hoping to do a few of the Tour the Galaxy missions, but they bugged the event calendar.

Yeah they were gold boxes I looted in elite STFs. I've also discarded all my normal lockboxes since they were filling up my bank slots.

Bah! so the "Ship from First Contact" is not the Akira OR the Steamrunner, its a Phoenix NON-COMBAT pet.

If they can retrofit the ancient NX-01 into a modern cruiser with modern weapons, why not retrofit the Phoenix to a combat shuttle? :D

The Phoenix replica is the token we get from FC celebrations. Doesn't mean we we won't get an Akira refit or the Steamrunner.
There are still to refits coming and several new ships.

I guess its inevitable. Since this is a brand new ship designer, Cryptic's starting him off with ships that are not complicated and have little functionality so he can quickly learn how to hook up his ship models in STO's game engine.

Didn't Cryptic originally say the Phoenix was going to be a shuttle (we need more of those).

It would be fun. You could take it in the Borg Incursion and give them some payback for what they almost did to the human timeline.
