I can't seem to find any information on this movie's estimated budget.

Does anyone have a guess here? Would the budget exceed $300MM?

This question needs to consider all movies adjusted for inflation, which is not completely straightforward.

If the formula in the wiki is correct, when adjusted for inflation, it's Cleopatra (1963).

    According to Wiki,

    Its Pirates III.

    I was surprised, too.

99% of the movies with a budget of $150MM or more came in the last decade. Inflation doesn't figure that much into it. Titanic had the record of $200MM back in 1997. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $268MM today.

It would appear that Cleopatra with a budget of $40MM in 1963 would take the cake. Adjusted for inflation, the budget would be equivalent of $308MM today.

Wow Tangled was the 2nd most expensive film? That's crazy!

so back to my original question, do you guys think Avengers will break the all time record for a movie budget?

Not knowing anything about the accounting, I'll throw in my two cents worth of speculation.

If I were the head honcho, then I'd make sure that the cost of The Avengers would be amortized across all of the other movies introducing the main cast: Iron Mans, Hulks, Thor. So that way, the answer is technically, "No", but in actuality, if all the movies are considered one big project, "Yes". Besides gaging success in manageable increments, this spreading of the cost over the lead-ins would be one of the raison d'êtres for these initial films.

Major portions of production design, SFX development, ironing out rough spots, would all be done in the earlier films.

I'm pretty sure it won't come anywhere near it. Marvel are very thrifty, notoriously so. Evans, Hemsworth, Renner etc probably aren't very dear (only Jackson and Downey are getting big paydays, I'd guess). Whedon wouldn't have cost a packet either. Locations have been chosen with a view to cutting costs. There will be no ground-breaking SFX the way there were with Avatar and no big location costs like with Waterworld or Titanic.

Well we do know that this will definitely be the biggest budget Joss Whedon has ever worked with. Has Industrial Light & Magic done the fx to the other marvel movies in addition to Iron Man?

Ant-Man will appear in the movie but in a cameo role and as a S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist using just his name Dr.Pym. Pym will not be shown as an Avenger as is the characters comic origin.

Set him up for his own movie I suppose. Use this as a staging ground so they don't have to spend that time establishing his credentials there in what is sure to be a smaller budgeted film.

I hope they don't cast some nobody and then recast for the Ant-Man film.

Whedon has already mentioned Fillions not in it, so maybe Tudyk?

Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that he reports to start shooting his scenes the first week of May. Some filming was/is slated for April so maybe this is just when he reports.
He's dropped 15 pounds already, probably drop another 5 or so by then. Get him down to a more 'puny Banner' look I suppose.

"See!" he gloats, vindicated at last.

I've been saying all along that we can't just assume that Loki will be in the movie simply because he was in the first issue of the comic book.

    It never works that way!
