Concerning our 7 month old, is he too young to start?

I had that Enterprise! Turns out it didn't function too well in water...

I think he'll enjoy that diorama. I don't know if you'll enjoy him enjoying that diorama.

When his first words are "make it so," you'll know he wasn't too young.

Awesomeness. I wanted that Enterprise-D toy so bad when I was a kid. My parents did get me the Romulan Warbird for some reason instead of it! :p

The Bridge and the D by playmates being at least 20 yrs old still take quite a beating. They both still look and work great, the Diamond Select ships on the other hand are a different story, except the D they did. It has fallen off the shelf several times and made it.

Not that anyone is competing here...and I'm glad you posted your beautiful picture (she's a little cutie) because now I feel normal, but this was when he was 2 hours old...

Beautiful baby! May God bless and watch over him always.

In answer to your question, no. One is never too young nor too old to enjoy "Star Trek." Being a traditionalist, however, I would recommend TOS rather TNG for his first outing - I like to rock old-school. ;)
