This week's theme: COMEBACKS: TV shows and films or film franchises that dropped out of sight for a while and have turned up either as remakes or revivals. As usual, no SF&F. Entry thread will be up for five days. Just for clarification, the revivals and remakes need not be recent or current...
Too sick to think of anything. *sneezecough* No, wait, I thought of something: True Grit, remade in 2010:
21 Jump Street Compared to the after school special quality of the tv series, the movie sucked. But it was pretty damn funny, and I loved the Johnny Depp/Peter DeLuise cameo scene!
Sorry to hear that auntiehill. I hope you feel like yourself again soon. Take care of yourself...get lots of rest! edit to add that you appear to have a vote as well! :-)
One could argue that The Muppets are per definition fantasy. But I won't, 'cause I so want to vote for that!
I get it. You want me to be the bad guy. That ain't gonna happen. Muppets are real to their target audience. So the Muppets stay.
Thanks, Jinx. I totally forgot about the no sci-fi fantasy part of it and just zoned in on the returning franchise. Thanks for keeping it in!
Four years between DaD and CR, with the box office hit that DaD was leaving absolutely no doubt of Bonds return, is that really "dropping out of sight" as JiNX-01 put it? I'd say GoldenEye was much more of a comeback, since LtK wasn't well-liked by the audience and didn't really make any money, and with the end of the Cold War, people seriously doubted there'd be another Bond movie. So, even though CR was a big hit, GoldenEye was way more of a comeback sensation.
