I'm still in the 2000s. I have some catching up to do!

I'm doing it in a weird way this year. I'm writing some at home and some at work (my job is wicked boring), but I am not keeping them together. It's kind of fun. When I'm home, I can't reference the part I wrote at work, and when I'm at work, I can't see the part I wrote at home.

I use google docs to keep it consistent.

I am not making good progress, but maybe the creativity bug has hit me in other ways. I wrote two songs last night (with lyrics) which is pretty good for me. One of them is really silly with the following sample verse chorus:

Pretty much the verses are all silly things about me being an animal.

I just broke 14,000..... Story is trekking along, though I ended up trashing a bunch of the original outline when I started writing on the 1st (which isn't a bad thing, what I have now is better I think :)). It's a lot of work, but I'm really enjoying the process so far!!

I decided on my third day of writing that the story wasn't a book but a movie, so I'm going to write a script instead this year.

Are you going for 50,000 words? Or the Script Frenzy rules?

I'm going out of town for three days for work and will be bored out of my mind when I'm stuck at the hotel alone. I plan to do a lot of writing.

No idea what Script Frenzy is, but it certainly won't be 50,000 words. aiming for about 120 pages.

Script Frenzy is run by the same folks who put on Nanowrimo, the goal is 100 pages in 30 days over the month of April. I think I might give it a shot next year.

Apparently in recognition of this effort, Amazon US currently has several e-books about writing available for free. You can see the list here, with links to each at Amazon.

Also, good luck to everyone who is participating!

I'm, sadly, still at 0. It's like everything in life is conspiring to stop me from writing. I'm going to catch up this weekend and write like a madwoman!

^^^Don't feel bad; I'm still at zero, too.

Although I suspect you have vastly more legitimate reasons for being there than I have! (And by that, I mean my reason is pure and simple procrastination... :D )

I plan on catching up, too. No, honest...

This is the first year I've made it past 500 words. I really don't care if I get anywhere close to 50,000 - I'm already past my personal best from before, so that's a good feeling. And I've noticed that I can write 100 words in just a couple or three paragraphs, and it counts up quite quickly.

I kept kicking around a bunch of Star Trek ideas, but none of them really clicked. Then I remembered a conversation I had with somebody a few months ago on fanfiction.net, she encouraged my ideas, and here I am: A crossover between Sliders and The Handmaid's Tale!

It's fascinating to try to get into the deep-down thoughts of the Sliders characters and keep the same kind of mood and rhythms established by Margaret Atwood. I'm feeling really good about this project.

One way I keep going when I'm not home is to always keep a notebook and pen with me. That way, I can write notes or bits of dialogue when I'm waiting for a bus, sitting in a restaurant, or waiting for appointments.

Currently I'm at 1093 words, which doesn't seem like much when compared to a lot of people, including my writing buddies at one of the forums I moderate. They're both well past 10,000, and rather smug about it.

At some point I plan to post my story, so I am editing as I go along.

Great job! The fact that you've kept up with it, (and have found the time to do it) is awesome! Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Oh, I LOVE Atwood. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm at 41,117. Fatigue is starting to set in.
