The Doctor is not really a captain but I can't resist voting for him anyway. Otherwise, I'd go with Picard.
Best Sci-Fi Captain/Commander? Pffft. That's Ace Rimmer*. (Red Dwarf) Also, I can't believe no one's mentioned Commander John Crichton (Farscape) yet... *(What a guy!)
From the list I went for Sisco, Adama & Sheridan, although that might just be my 3 favourite shows... Not on the list, Commander Makara, the eternal thorn in the side of Star Fleet. She may not be the universe's greatest strategist, but she certainly is persistent!
From that list I'll take Benjamin Sisko and Bruce Greenwood's version of Christopher Pike. I'll also add General George Hammond from Stargate SG-1.
Just to turn it on it's a head which one would you say is the worst? I would lean towards Archer or Hunt.
Jack actually commanded a few starships in his time, once he even had the command of his own Goa'uld mothership.
Glad to see Adama is making a respectable show. He got my vote for his wisdom and caring approach to command.

Well I think I've got enough input for reposting the Poll. Give me a few days, it's after 2:00am here now. I'm too tired to write up the list and post a poll. I'll try and get all the spellings right this time, and not exclude anyone, and also include more female, minority, and alien commanders. Who ever is the winner of the new Poll is going to be the commander of whichever war ship wins my other Poll that I have yet to create.
