Comet ISON has been destroyed

    No, but you might be remembering another comet by that same discoverer since most comets are named after their discoverers. About a year ago there was another one by that name that could only be seen in the Southern Hemisphere.

    McNaught. The Southern Hemisphere in some respects has a more interesting sky than what we see up North.

    Comet McNaught in 2007 was spectacular. I wish I'd had by DSLR back then...

    argh, how frustrating! No comet brighter than mag 7 visible atm :(
    And the ISS would have been a rather brilliant mag -0.4 tonight, just like Mercury, only both are too low over the horizon.
    Venus and Pluto stand very close together, though, and if the clouds would break up I might possibly be able to see them. Where's a storm when you need one?
