I quite like that. I guess you could have 'Dibbers and Weirders as well. Damn, you could spend all night playing this game
I used to think that Whedoniac was a term you'd use for a fan of Joss Whedon, and then discovered I couldn't find any references to anyone other than myself using the term. Considering Dune is another word for desert I suggest Deserters!
Hey, I used the funny face! Serious point though, it's not a term that British fans tend to use to describe themselves. I think it comes from American fandom, and it winds British fans up no end, hence my joke. We rubbed along for years just being called "Doctor Who fans".
I suggest you check out tumblr. Perhaps it's just the old guard that resists the Whovian term. It may be more of a generational than nation thing.
Yeah, it's totally lame. I don't think that many fans actually use it. It's more of a epithet. Generally it's just Star Wars fans that's used.
Maybe it's a bit of both? I don't know any other British fan who calls themself a Whovian (or who doesn't detest the term!) - but then I don't think I know any fan under the age of 35 either! I know not this tumbler of whom you speak.
All these posts have been tagged "whovian": http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/whovian And yes the majority of tumblr seems to be under 20, especially in hugely popular fandoms like Who.
Sorry. It was only intended as a "Deck the Halls" pun, but I can see how it might be misinterpreted. Won't happen again.
