Sometimes 30-ish year old tunes come unbidden into my head, which happened recently with this catchy number:

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo-4w9A6sVE&feature=player_detailpage[/yt]

This song was a bit of a mess, but there was time in 1983 when I couldn't get it out of my head for at least a month:

I can't let this thread go any further without some vintage PoP! from 1984:

^I called that as Canadian-made before the Mulroney reference and the maple leaf, because no American would try to rhyme "coat" and "about".

Then there's this parody from when the decade was young that actually popularized the regional behavior that it was parodying:

^Too bad the original video doesn't seem to be available in its pure form ATM...a true classic of the early MTV era.

And my home state makes it on the MTV:

EDIT: The game show segment in that Billy Joel video reminds me that we've gotten this far in an 80s music thread without a staple artist of the era....

You must have caught me in-between edits....Seems that when I try to post a new video in an edit, the existing videos disappear. They're all there now.

And you even sort-of phrased your answer in the form of a question.... :p

Yeah, editing posts with youtube vids in them doesn't work too well. Most times you have to re-add all the videos.

Yes. Which is why I posted it a page back. :p

As punishment, here: watch Carol dancing like a boil weevil in the original version of the video....

and then enjoy this much more cheesy prototype of the song from before they recorded the album....

A little bit of a cheat, this came out in May of 1979, but I just couldn't resist. I love this song, and especially this version.

And just to confirm the awesomeness of Gary Numan, here he is with Nine Inch Nails (no I'm not kidding)
