Why not make an actual poll?

Anyway, Captain Sheridan gets my vote this time.

Maybe this should be moved to Science Fiction & Fantasy
as this is a multi franchise question.

    Koenig doesn't have a C either.
Han Solo only has one S.

I'm sure Stargate SG-1 fans may think someone is left out.

Sorry, I was trying to create a poll. I didn't know a post was also created.

    The Doctor's not a Captain...

The one I'd most likely follow to hell and back is Bill Adama, but the one who pops into my head when I hear or see the word Captain is Jean-Luc Picard

I'm not sure Doctor Who counts as a commander! None of his companions ever listen to what he says! :)

    And hey, what about:

    Captain Larry Dart
    Colonel Steve Zodiac
    Captain Troy Tempest
    Captain Scarlet
    Commander Ed Straker
    Captain Podley
    Captain Thrice
    Commander Nathan Spring
    Supreme Commander Servalan
    Doctor Benn

I'd still vote for John Koenig though.

Original Adama (Lorne Greene) or nuAdama (Edward James Olmos)? Unlike Kirk and nuKirk, for example, the two Adamas are almost completely different characters.

Also, thank you for including Commander Koenig, Space 1999 was an oasis of good TV SciFi back when there really was none, and Martin Landau is just plain awesome.

You know, while he only had one season on TV (and while I like him I probably wouldn't have voted for him) if Archer and Doctor Robinson can make it on the pool, what about commander Sinclair from Babylon 5? He seems like an odd person to leave out. unless the captain had to have commanded a ship, but even then if the guy from seaquest counts, I'd say Sinclair deserved a spot.

I'm a bit out of touch with Sci Fi. I have recently gotten back into it because of my kids, who are now becoming Star Trek fans. Could you please state where all the captains are from in your list, and maybe we can create a new poll that's more comprehsensive.

Sorry I forgot about him. I never watched Babylon 5. Let get him added to the list for a new poll!

Well some of them have the rank of Captain rather than being actual captains (damned millitary :)

Troy Tempest is from the Gerry Anderson series Stingray, Captain Scarlet is from the Anderson series of the same name, Straker from the Anderson series UFO (spotting a pattern here :)

Supreme Commander Servelan - the big bad gal from Blake's 7.

Commander Nathan Spring from the 1986 series Star Cops (series created by Chris Boucher who did a lot of work on Blake's 7)

    What about:
    Captain Elizabeth Lochley (B5)
    Captain Belinda Blowhard (Starhyke)
    Ka D'Argo (FarScape)
    Captain Oliver Hudson (seaQuest)
    Captain Turanga Leela (Futurama)

It's a shame the Christopher Pike listed isn't the original one from "The Cage", I liked him far better than Kirk in TOS.

    Okey dokey.

Captain Larry Dart - Space Patrol
Colonel Steve Zodiac - Fireball XL5
    Captain Troy Tempest - Stingray
    Commander Ed Straker - UFO
    Captain Podley - Space Precinct
    Captain Thrice - Lavender Castle
Commander Nathan Spring - Star Cops
Supreme Commander Servalan - Blakes 7
Doctor Benn - Star Fleet (X Bomber)

(Captain Scarlet) - actually in retrospect, it would be better to replace him on the list with his commanding officer, Colonel White (Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons)

It was tough picking between the original Capt Kirk, Commander Adama, or Colonel O'Neal. Those three without a doubt are my favorites. I went with Adama for no other reason that I've recently rewatched some nuBSG episodes.

Though I'm a Picard guy at heart, I voted Kirk because... well..
