I'm amazed that anyone is watching fast&f! wow great numbers for it. I have no interest in it whatsoever.

The first few F&F films ranged from pretty good to mediocre, but they got much better with the fourth and fifth films - lots of fun, especially Fast Five.

Like this board needs two of us.

Going out to see FF 6 in a few minutes. Into Darkness again tomorrow evening.

Did you steal that idea from Kirk, Harrison, Spock or Pike? ;)

I/We knew the box office guru guy was way off!

    $37m/$47m is a good hold.

I still hold out hope that we make it to $40+/$50+ and beat Hangover 3. Fingers crossed.

Looking forward to the overseas numbers as well.

I'm fairly confident that Hangover 3 will beat STID but the word of mouth and the reviews of Hangover 3 are so awful that I wouldn't be surprised if some choose STID over seeing H3. Here's hoping.

Well, in Hangover III we see what it means when a big movie franchise actually underperforms...for anyone who confused Star Trek with one last weekend.

Apropos of theater crowds...I went to Fast And Furious 6 this evening (and there was a Mustang in it, a '69 fastback that gets chewed up real bad by a tank). Now this movie is, of course, a humongous hit this weekend. I went to an 8:00 PM show on the movie's first Saturday. The crowd was young, high energy, lots of loud reactions to the movie, etc. Nonetheless, the theater was only about 75% full.

So I think that movies open so wide and theaters run so many showings of them on multiple screens that actually selling out an showing is probably not that common these days.

And BTW, there were more than a few women on screen dressed in bikinis or less, but I'm guessing that none of the FF franchise fans are on the Internet starting angry topics about how "gratuitous" it was. ;)

I saw it in IMAX again this morning - and they handed out small posters! I also bought the movie cup sans drink. Might see it again tomorrow morning before the ballgame. :techman:

Rth just posted his Saturday numbers

Looks like STID and Hangover 3 will be battling for second place this weekend. It's going to be a close one!

    Yeah, go my Trek!

Hey, that poster may well glow in the dark if it's the one I think it is. Check it out!

Go for it! I think I liked it even more my third time. But then, that probably had a lot to do with my group of friends, I don't know.

Like the first Abramsverse flick, though, I'm enjoying it more and more each time.

I'm trying to see it a second time, but when Hubby and I tried to go to the 2D screening on Friday it was sold out! (That probably doesn't mean that much...the 2D was playing on one of the smaller screens, but it was still surprising!). We'll try again mid mid week.

PS Nice to see you back Jeff!

I'm definitely going to see it in cinemas a third time. Been twice so far, once in 3D, once in 2D.

Agree. My fourth viewing today with three friends who had stayed totally spoiler-free. We all had a really great time, and they were shocked when I told them, after the show, that a small but loud sector of fandom was very angry/disappointed.

The tear-jerker bits get more intense each time!
