Stumbled onto an intriguing new novel at the library yesterday. Stoker's Manuscript by Royce Prouty is about a rare-books dealers who is hired--by a mysterious Romanian client--to authenticate a copy of Bram Stoker's original ms. for Dracula. Naturally, this involves travelling to Transylvania to meet with the client . . .. I'm only about ninety pages in, but I'm liking it so far.
I finished Fevre Dream about a month ago. I found it vaguely unsatisfying. In the end I hated Joshua and his race. Abner should have wiped them all of the planet. However, I found Abner's loyalty and devotion touching. I have now read Anno Dracula and Fevre Dream. I think those are the only vampire novels I have read. I shall be reading Dracula next. I have an edition with drawings by Edward Gorey. (Love Gorey!)
Glad to! We have already cast our Carmilla the vampire, a beautiful and extremely talented lady by the name of Vanessa Cate. She hasn't updated her website in over a year I'm sorry to say. Recently did a very edgy and weird one woman show titled Kamikaze as well as directing several shows.
True blood is having a $.99 sale on comixology for those who want to start reading the comic book series
Congratulations on seeing them. Does Anne Rice have any new vampire or other macabre books coming out soon?
Very cool. I remember when she did a signing in the West Village many, many years ago. The line stretched around the block . . . .
As far as Carmilla goes, we have a blog now: http://putcarmillaonstage.wordpress.com/ One by one, we're introducing members of the cast with interviews. The production is scheduled for February (just before pilot season) and so we're still raising funds. I'm rather proud of our fund-raising video: http://youtu.be/HYcWLou13KM
