It's a different pronunciation, not just his accent. And it's hardly slightly is it? There's a limited number of ways a word can be read, and this way was as different as possible.
Oh yes, that'll be it. I bet if you pick up the script it noted for Smith to pronounce it differently because the writer decided the Third Doctor had been saying it wrong.

Why was this episode called Hide?

The point still stands. If Doctor 7 can have a completely different accent than before, why can't 11 pronouce things differently?

I wondered the same thing after watching. No one was hiding, in fact, everyone was doing the exact opposite of hiding.

I wasn't. I was behind the sofa with my seven-year-old.

Well the creepy alien in the house was hiding...sort of...

Plus the ghost hunters were hiding their feelings from one another...

Yeah it doesn't make a lot of sense....

The episode was all about the Monster wanting to get some tail, so "hide" refers to the Monster's hide, not hiding from the monster ;)

Everyone came into this episode (including Eleven and Clara) expecting a good old-fashioned ghost story - the real story (or rather stories) was 'hiding' behind those assumptions. Those included:

    - The real reason behind the 'ghost' sightings
    - The professor & the psychic's unrequited romance
    - The psychic discovering her own inner strength
    - Clara getting an eye-opener on what it truly means to be a time-traveler
    - Clara's ongoing feud with Sexy
    - The Doctor becomes the scared, danger-prone Companion for once - Clara has to come to his rescue
    - The reason the Doctor/Clara came there in the first place

So. Seven little separate intertwining B-stories 'hiding' behind an A-story premise. There's your explanation.

I just read that the writer wanted to have Quatermass in the episode but couldn't get the rights. The Doctor and Quatermass, that'd have been wild.

And to add to the "Hide" business, I also heard it had a working title of "Hider in the House" at some point. After "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship", that couldn't have been too on-the-nose.

That was my point as well, but a joke you have to explain is probably a terrible joke. Oh well.

All Doctor Who episodes should follow this title format:
    - Nestenes in a Shop Window
    - Dalek in a Basement
    - Internet Brain-Stealers in a Tower
    - Evil God on a Planet
    - Ice Warrior on a Submarine
    - Daleks in Manhattan

I think they made up and published the titles with a fairly sketchy idea of the plots. Then the plots developed and in some cases they were stuck with a title thart didn't fit any more. Just one more reason why it all feels a bit haphazard this season.

^^I was going to describe that one as Horse on a Spaceship, but obviously I need to get some perspective. ;)

In that case shouldn't they rename the whole show Madman in a Blue Box...?

Still not sure how I feel on this one; The first half is REALLY strong and the second half is good too but way.. looser and messier. This should have been an out and out classic and is easily the most ambitious Who since The Girl Who Waited. As it stands though, it's ending does let it down a little.

I'm sorry if it was mentioned earlier, I didn't read all the pages, but was that a "good" monster? Is this something that's going to breed and eat everyone? I know The Doctor thought he was helping out, but that monster didn't seem too friendly when he was trapped there. Why does he think it's going to just be happy now that it's got it's mate. It'll start with eating the major and the rest. They'll land in a future were the Earth is crawling with them.

No, the monster was not threatening in any way.

I wonder if the bigger one could eat people even if the one inside the house doesn't. Maybe the Doctor saw from its teeth it's herbivorous.
