That would be an epic snag if they manage to get her in the role.

She'd be the most widely known name in the current cast for sure.

That's great. She was good in Star Trek and Avatar.

I just saw this on Yahoo and was on my way here to post the same. She'd be a huge get for Marvel. The cast is shaping up nicely, though I'm still iffy on Dave Bautista as Drax. I was kinda hoping Jason Momoa would get that role.

My vote for Rocket Racoon would be to render him in CGI with the voice of Steve Buscemi.

So far you've got the unfunny loser from Parks and Recreation, a WWE wrestler and a talking raccoon.

Yeah, this isn't going to be very good.

Don't le tthe talking racoon throw you. In the issues of Guardians I've read, he's a very engaging character.

The tree is pretty cool, too.

    Really.

    "I am Groot!"

I think that Rocket and Groot are going to be the merchandisable comic relief, ala Artoo and Threepio.

Ugh, they already hired a extremely mediocre former wrestler who's a black hole of charisma to play Drax. Why do they feel the need to hire another horrible actor as Gamora? Maybe its to balance out the suck among the genders :klingon:

Well, ok, to be fair I actually like Avatar for the story (I never saw it in fancy 3D) and she voiced an alien well in that. Still, that doesn't balance out her being the worst character in my most hated movie. I was really excited for GotG, but each new cast member announced (or rumored) makes me less and less excited. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Christian Bale is brought in as Rocket Raccoon, complete with his stupid batman voice :borg:

Actually, I've been thinking, it would be cool if they got Greg Ellis to voice RR. I'm sure getting a real voice actor isn't something movie makers would want (I'm not sure why I think that, but for some reason thats just the kind of vibe I get from big movies) but he did a good RR in the avengers cartoon and MvC3 video game.

His 4 issue limited series from the 80s was a fun read.

I AM GROOT! I AM GROOT. I am Groot. I am groot?

    (meaning)

Of course this movie will be a bit weird. That's kind of the whole point. Some will love it some will hate it. Why shouldn't Marvel Cinematic Universe get a bit cosmic?

(if you're a GotG reader you'll catch the joke in this)

I never followed the cosmic arm of Marvel. Does anyone know of a good site that would maybe give an overview or a place to start?

Cool. Not only is Zoe Saldana smokin' hot she's a good actress as well. Now I'm actually interested in this movie.

A very odd choice for a movie but maybe Marvel is testing if the scifi comic book genre is alive, it might open the door for other movies

Maybe start with some of the cosmic oriented stories of the Fantastic Four as a lot of cosmic characters first appeared in that title, the older runs of Silver Surfer are also good. The Annihilation books are also a good read the modern Guardians of the Galaxy originated from that event.

Michael Rooker, aka Merle on Walking Dead, has signed on to play Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy. Yondu was a member of the original Gene Colon '69 version of the team.

Aw, you just beat me to it.

Yondu? Interesting. I wonder if we'll get any more original Guardians.
