Ooh! I like it! :techman: About the only thing I'd do to improve it would be to change up the nacelles a bit so that they're not a TOS copy, if you're not already planning to do that.

ty! I'll see what I can do about the nacelles, those and the deflector dishes are the only things left now from the Connie parts set I began with...

If i were to try it your way, I'd get glue all over my monitor and keyboard!! :p

...in the meantime, here's a beauty shot:

The ring around the planet looks like an effect in The Matrix. It's all virtual!

It must be -- the ring isn't casting a shadow on the planet nor is a shadow cast on it.

This is great, but I think if it were to really "take off" as a TOS design, it might benefit from using just one dish/pod, and then having the dish/pod and the nacelles offset from each other by intervals of 120º, like forming a triangular arrangement.

Make those pods into mini saucers. Maybe lose on of the deflector dishes. Make the front end a sphere - a la 2001 (the Discovery) and you've got my vote.

As a drummer I appreciate both the ship and the sketch. That is all, as you were.

The ship has a great potential, but you need to work over the textures a little more. Looks like you sllaped the same pattern all around, and it don´t looks that good for now. You could post it as a wip over F3D or SFM, and get some help improving the overall look. ;) Just suggestions.
Anyway, the rendered scene turnned aout very well.
