Fox have announced that tomorrow nights episode of Dollhouse will be the last until December, at which point they'll start airing two episodes each Friday. Probably the best sign we've had yet that they intend to cancel the show, as this feels like they're simply trying to rush out the episodes as quickly as possible.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem Perhaps, although I think Dollhouse will be a better lead in for itself than Brothers & 'Till Death. (Honestly, is there ANY crossover between those 2 audiences?) EDIT: Except, shit!, this means that the 1st hour of Dollhouse conflicts with Law & Order. And if I have to pick between the 2 shows, I have to pick Law & Order. It's not that I like it better than Dollhouse. It's just that Dollhouse Season 2 will be out on DVD by this time next year. Whereas the way Law & Order DVDs are going, it will be about a decade before this season is out on DVD.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem Well, that's going to be different.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem Obviously not airing in November is a sign of Fox's now zero confidence on the show. Sad but not unforseen at this point. I'm sure a House rerun will 5-6million viewers vs the 2million of DH. Regarding Brothers, that was never a good lead-in. I stated the lack of crossover audience in one of my episode review threads. Also, since DH will be back-to-back where does Brothers go? Did it get cancelled and I missed that news? I'm just going to hope that the double header eps show an uptick in ratings that cause someone in authority(at Fox, NBC, USA, SyFy) to rethink the fate of Dollhouse.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem It's a fairly bold experiment, really----aside from pairing it with a proven hit (which they aren't going to do), doubling it up is the one thing that might have some effect on the ratings, just because it's unusual.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem It's not just a hiatus, November is the all-important sweeps month. Networks air shows with the greatest viewing potential during sweep. But here come sweeps and no Dollhouse. Fox has stated that all 13 episodes of DH will air. By running them back to back they'll burn through their inventory by year's end. Promise kept. Fox will then dust off its collective hands and cancel the show with a clean conscience.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem I wish I could share the confidence, but this is more obviously a "we have shows we actually plan to sell advertising on that we'd rather air" which means they're done with Dollhouse. Oh well, at least we'll get to see Summer Glau's episodes before Christmas. My prediction is unless DH does something weird like hit the top 10 during December (pretty much the only way it can get a stay of execution), these will be the last episodes (despite the promise of airing all 13) and the remaining episodes will be saved as "value addded" for the DVD. Or if Fox wants to be mean, make them Blu-Ray-exclusive. Alex
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem Assuming they don't mind airing on Christmas, there are four Fridays in December. That'll take them all the way up to 2x12. Only one more to go then. It would be oddly appropriate if the final episode were again only on DVD.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem That would just be cruel. Especially if 2x12 is a cliffhanger leading into the (most likely)final episode. Therefore FOX will likely do just that knowing them.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem It's an obvious indicator that Fox is trying to up its total ratings during November sweeps. The network knows that its Friday night lineup is a failure, and they feel more confident airing repeats of House and Bones than airing original episodes of Brothers, 'Til Death, and Dollhouse. It's sad news for Dollhouse fans, but I can't say it's a shock. Once the sweeps period is over. Dollhouse will return and Fox will definitely want to burn off the remainder of its 13 episodes so that it can re-shuffle its schedule come January and hopefully create a stronger Friday night. It's too bad about Dollhouse. I've really grown to like the show, even though I don't think it's Joss Whedon at his best. And to be honest, Fox is handling this better than they did with Firefly. At least DH got a second season and will get to finish its episode order.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem And AGAIN, I will say.... They have these new things called VCRs. Welcome to 1978.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem Well, at least we're going (us Dollhouse fans) to have a wonderful December. Why I love Dollhouse - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwTGZcoRr_8
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem I just realized a weird sorta numerology thing or something for Eliza Dushku. Her shows repeatedly reach exactly 26 episodes in different configurations. Unless something miraculous happens, Dollhouse will finish up with 26 episodes, 13 from Season 1 + 13 from Season 2. Tru Calling's 1st season lasted 20 episodes. Season 2 was originally supposed to be 13 episodes long but FOX unexpectedly cancelled it mid-production, leaving the series total at 26. Eliza Dushku has appeared as Faith in 26 episodes of Buffy/Angel spread out unevenly over 5 years. ("Faith, Hope, & Trick," "Beauty & the Beasts," "Homecoming," "Revelations," "Amends," "The Zeppo," "Bad Girls," "Consequences," "Dopplegangland," "Enemies," "Choices," "Graduation Day, Part 1," "Graduation Day, Part 2," "This Year's Girl," "Who Are You?" "Five by Five," "Sanctuary," "Judgment," "Salvage," "Release," "Orpheus," "Dirty Girls," "Empty Places," "Touched," "End of Days," and "Chosen.") Any numerologists out there know if the number 26 has any special meaning? Is it like a 69 but backwards and with an amputee? A decent idea except I have no fucking clue how I'm supposed to interface my new VCR with the digital converter box.
Re: Dollhouse going on month-long hiatus then double episodes in Decem You'd need two boxes, one for the recorder and one for your TV, because the converter has to be on the channel that you're trying to record, assuming that the VCR doesn't have it's own digital tuner. You can get VCR/DVD combos with built-in digital tuners for $115, combine that with converter box and you should be able to watch one and record another.
