*Addictive* would be an understatement. I haven't worked on any missions since acquiring the Duty Officers. I want to see how soon I can make CMDR just using the DOFF system.

Here's the link to my discussion of Duty Officers.

I hear you, but I say keep it as is. You can not already play live, but the Tribble test server has most of the FTP features and many of us play there and discuss them here.
If it helps, I expect the live transfer around December (pure guesswork on my part, could be as early as November as well.)

Is it free (once you get you free ship token like my refit defiant class) or only way to get this sucker is to spend 1200 atari rip off greed credits.

Price is 800 C-Points and it is a T3 ship. There is no T5 you can use the skin on, you can use the Point Defense Anti Fighter console on other escorts though.
VA retrofit ships will become C-Store only with FTP and will likely cost 1600 C-Points then.
So if you have yet a free VA ship to claim, do it soon or if you want an account wide unlock spent the 1200 points now.

I would buy the thunderchild if there were a T5 Akira or if you could use the skin on the fleet escort.

They are a business. One that is going free to play. Which means they need to sell things to stay in business. Nothing greedy about that.

Character transfer (copy) from holodeck liver server to tribble test server has been enabled. Every player is allowed to transfer a single character a single time. So choose wisely, my friend.
This will give you a first feel for the upcoming currency conversion. For the first time you can see what your emblems, merits and bagdes will get you in dilithium.

Cool, all our badges are converted to refined dilithium.

1200 cheap-by-industry-standards let-the-developers-feed-their-children credits. Fixed that for you.

have finished one of the most useful doff assigments so far. I needed a lot of resources for it, though. Among other things a prototype plan obtained from another doff mission.
I can now use a deployable heavy disruptor turret.
It is a device I can equip. each turret stays 300 seconds if not destroyed and the device has 20 turrets total before it is consumed.
heavy turrets can be pretty nasty. :)

Let's see, I completed an assignment where I obtained a secret prototype plan from an enemy race. I also needed a few commodities, a certain rare particle trace and contraband, a rare commodity which you can also only get via doff assigments or trade with with other players.
To construct the turret device you also need 3 specialized Doffs, one from each main department, tactical, engineering and science.
To get the engineer technician, I traded with another player cause I didn't have that one.

That is a lot of effort, but to be honest it felt more like crafting and an accomplishement then what you do at Memory Alpha atm.
    More of this please.

Huh. I think one of my suggestions made it into the game - that new 'Casualty Risk' indicator on DOff missions...

Also, the Mk XI crafting costing dilithium is utter garbage.

What the hell is the point of crafting if you still have to use dilithium?

The point in general is as TV says. Where it falls down here is, the crafted items can often be purchased for less Dilithium than they can be crafted for. But that's a detail, and is why there's a test server.

The general concept of Dilithium being both a crafting material and a currency is a sound one based on real-world economic principles. Your wedding ring is made of a material commonly used as a medium of exchange, after all. The idea of money NOT being made of crafting materials is pretty new to civilization in general.

    NO!!

I am paying 9 quid +vat and they need another 10 quid for any extra item they develop as if 11 quid I pay them and 50 000 others subscribers ain't enough, btw most games are free, just look mmos and most are free, so don't tell me industry standard nonsense.

This game has more bugs than a termite mount, reason why I won't be renewing my subscription.
