Everything right now revolves around the transition to free-to-play, so don't expect new missions (for example, the next Featured Episode series revolving around Deep Space 9) until F2P is live.

That said, the DS9 FE is expected to be in testing on Tribble at some point prior to F2P, since the F2P Test Shard is testing pretty much everything that will come at that time.

I'm a strategic player and detail freak so I'm loving the Duty Officer system. The only down side is now I find myself logging in at weird hours just to check on assignment progress and start new ones. I'm also ignoring missions. I'm getting 200 to 400 points every couple of hours and I don't even have to be logged on. I'm getting some good bonuses like +9 to Torps, +6 to Sci ability, +6 to Sci practice. Unfortunately those bonuses are wasted since my character never leaves Earth. He just beams back and forth between ESD and SFA to pick up new assignments.

Update - I logged on after work and had earned 1556 points, +6 Command, +6 Science Theory, +6 Science Practice. Not bad for 8 hours of inactivity.

Of the two new space sets (Starfleet Elite Force and Kellerun), the Starfleet Elite Force set looks to be pretty poor.

To be honest, neither space sets are remotely as good as the Aegis and the Borg sets, unless something changes.

Huh? New space sets? I must have missed them on the devs twitter leaks.
    Care to provide a link?

As far as I know only the Mk X stuff is available atm. The top gear Mk XII should be considerably better

To expand on Hartzilla2007's post above:

Free ship tokens for all players (Silver and Gold) will remain for the Lieutenant Commander and Commander ranks. Only Gold players will receive a token at Captain and Rear Admiral ranks. No players will receive a token at Vice Admiral; you'll have to continue using the RA ship, or buy a VA ship from the C-Store.

Negotiations for Veteran Accolades to cover the VA token are still ongoing! ;)

meaning: people have suggested it on the forum and hope Cryptic will listen. they did for the lower level tokens.
    Cryptic fears some exploitation apparently.

Nice that they feel that they have to break the system in advance, knowing that they might not be competent enough to prevent a possible exploit later. They have to figure out a conversion rate anyway, can they not handle it if the people that have paid for 500 days of service so far (i.e. a large chunk of their operating budget) get a non-monetary reward? If the exchange rate works at lower levels, why would it break if a couple more people had a few more emblems?

Especially annoyed since I'm about a week from my 500 day reward, and they've taken away the thing I'd been promised for a long time, and not yet replaced it. The emblems would have represented getting nice gear and skipping a ton of grinding. A free VA ship token isn't terrible, but not much of a reward for someone playing 500 days, as they'd very likely already have VA level ships, plus having bought a couple others.

Screwed myself over by buying the Galaxy-X after picking the Galaxy refit as my VA ship, though. Would be nice to be able to try the Defiant instead. Also kinda screwed myself insofar as the Galaxy-X kinda sucks once the novelty wears off...

The Galaxy X has been bumped up to VA status unlike before where you could fly it as RA1. They might give it a stats overhaul as well.

Would be nice if they fix the stats/handling if they are going to limit the availability of the thing. Annoying that they have no problem making the tweak that screws us over (this thing cost what, $20?), but struggle with maybe throwing us a bone to make up for it later, maybe...

Would also be nice if they threw us SOMETHING while we're waiting for them to get to F2P and release things again. An event, a single mission, something to justify the 6+ months people have been paying for subs and not getting anything new.

Losing interest in this game, which sucks. Should be the obvious market for it, was excited over their first year as it kept improving, and they've managed to turn me off. Starting to get more interested in the KOTOR game...

While it is a bit buggy and rough, all the changes on Tribble already include some bits of new content.
Doff system is fun and oddly addictive.

No, at worst you have to level up to use it again. Should still be available to you at level cap.

As Timelord said, you'd likely have to level up to VA to be able to use it again. But, hey, at least you'd then have a third Tactical Console slot (which will by default have a Universal Cloak Console usable on the Tactical Escort Retrofit or the Dreadnought, but can be removed to open up the slot for a different console).

Okay so this hasn't ACTUALLY gone free to play yet, has it? Because I just tried to log-in and nothing. Maybe we should change the title of the thread to "Going to Free-to-Play Soon"? Because the title as is is very misleading.

This is pure supposition, but I'd lean towards thinking they would either go directly into your normal inventory or into the overflow bag (which would be accessible via the inventory screen).
