Has anyone seen the March Calendar on the STO website?

    1-19. Cardassian Lock Box
    3. Feature Episode 4.4
    8. Duty Officer Expansion (C-Store)
    10. Feature Episode 4.5 (Finale)
    15. Flagship Variants (C-Store)
    23. New Event TBA
    24. 800-Day Veteran Reward
    29. Mugato Combat Pet (C-Store)
    29. Galaxy Ship Pack (C-Store)

Presuming the numbers are dates in March, does it imply that those cursed lock boxes will stop dropping after the 19th? What's the Duty Officer expansion? What's a Mugato?

Well, as of yesterday, I became a Silver member. So far I've not seen any difference (I haven't logged into the game yet, but I still have full forum access at startrekonline.com).

I might go LTS in a month or so, but I'm interested to see the effect the F2P has for now.

Keep your speed up and try to pull a few away from the pack. Baring that fire at will and Torpedo spread and possibly ramming speed.

I only recall one Klingon mission being challenging on Standard setting (The Doomsday Device). Most of the other missions can be played on Adv or Elite. (Even my daughter plays Klingon missions on Elite.)

Although "Fire at Will" is a good tactical power, I prefer to use it on Birds of Prey and other small craft. Against the D7 Battlecruiser, I would probably just unleash on the nearest one, then target the next nearest, continue until all dead.

Anyway, not making fun of you, but something is wrong if you're having trouble. If you provide a little info, I'll give a recommendation:
    char type
    ship
    ship weapons
    boff skills available

You can post here or send an ingame message to @Rocketeer_7. If you send a message, I might have some equipment or personnel that would help.

Yeah, my friend recently went Silver and he said the same thing - that he didn't lose anything. He still has the bank slots, boff slots, etc. that he had before. (I think someone else mentioned losing respec tokens) Silver is looking more and more tempting every day.

When you switch from gold to silver, you don't lose anything that you currently have unlocked, however, you will no longer qualify for the veteran rewards. So you really won't see much of a change when you switch, but the new players who start as silver will not have as many unlocks (bank slots, ship tokens, etc).

Also, any new toons will have all the initial restrictions.

Played through all my toons last night and there was indeed little difference (all of them are at VA or LG, which is part of the reason I went f2p)

The only real effect it had was that when my Gorn hit LG last night he didn't get the extra Bank/Inventory slots. However he did still get the LG ship token! (As it's a veteran reward of course).

Appreciate all the info. When F2P was first announced I thought I would never be a free player. However, Cryptic is giving so much to the F2P crowd.

I need to recalculate how much dilithium or cp's it would take to acquire the ships my characters still need. I already have a lot of things unlocked on this account and don't plan on creating any new toons (have 8 already).

So still considering the pros and cons.

I figured that if I allow my self the same amount of Money's worth of C-Store points as the sub would allow me I would pretty much get everything I wanted.

Of course you guys will be missing out of the free ship varient, hull matieral (which I think may be the Odessey based one they were talking about doing), and free uniform that are coming up in the vet rewards.

I'm a 500 day veteran, so I have the rewards up to that point.

600 day / VA ship token - It may be cheaper to keep a paid membership versus purchasing ships for the rest of my characters. Have to run the numbers again.

700 day / Android BOFF, - I'd like to have that, but not going to lose sleep over it. Eventually it will probably be in the C-store.

Very true and I'm not ruling out eventually getting an LTS if I find these items worth it or the Veteran reward are extended beyond the 1000 days.

It was more a case that I didn't want to keep shelling out on a regular basis. Now it's either it's worth me going LTS or not.

Well I have the LTS and I have no complaints as not only am I paid off but I get 400 C-points a month so Cyptic is actually paying ME to play the game and I get to liberated Borg Human species to play as which is a slight upgrade over the standard Human due to the better traits it comes with (at least from my stand point). So I for one think its worth it in the long run.

At some point, they need to start awarding SLOTS to go with all the benefits. Went down my BOFF list when I got the Jem'Hadar award, and tried to figure out who I could get rid of to fill him in. Breen, Jem'Hadar, Borg Sci, Borg Eng (amazon reward), Photonic Doc, that's half the slots right there. Add in the Android when i get that one soon, and almost no spots for the actual crew you pick up along the way. I already have to drop Purple BOFFs when I pick someone up, pretty close to having to drop the special reward ones, which I can't reclaim.

Similar situation for ships. When it was energy-costs only, you could always just drop one and buy it again. Now they cost tokens, and you can't reclaim them, so not gonna dump them. I kept my Fleet Escort, bought a Defiant, got the Gal-X and the Exploration retrofit VA reward, TOS Enterprise, Captain's Yacht, Delta Flier, and then have been hanging onto the Sovereign and I think the runabout just because they're paid for and can't get them back easily. Had to jettison my other shuttle to get the Oddessy.

Same deal with bank slots. Keep all the data types, a few commodities around (including new GQ ones), and you're already half full. Anniversary rewards, a few of the ship and ground sets that were special rewards you can't get again, all this stuff adds up.

At some point, there needs to be an allowance for expansion of BOFF/Ship/Bank slots without having to buy more. It's been 2+ years, the number of potential items has drifted over time. What used to be enough just isn't if you kept half the crap they give us. The choices for what to throw away are getting tougher, and they keep releasing more and more items you have to collect. Up to a point, I could buy more slots, but having to do this for each character, and on a repeated basis, really isn't worth it to me.

Don't feel I'm hoarding, just not sure where to cut at this point. Half the free bonus rewards now require me to drop something I'm using, or pay to buy a slot to accept them...

^^ I feel your pain. I chose to spend 200 CP for 2 extra BO slots so that I could add the Android and Jem'Hadar Boff's. I'm constantly shuffling items around in my inventory and selling off what I don't need.

I'm recently a 700 day vet, and I found out that I also get an extra character slot to start a new character.

It doesn't help that there is limit to how many BO slots you can have I found this out by trying to buy four and it would only let me get 2.
