If Caviezel & Cavill end up being Batman & Superman then it should make re-watching of The Count of Monte Cristo interesting.

And it would lead to no end of confusion . . .

"Caviezel? Cavill? You mean they aren't the same person?"

I'm thinking it would be 80% stuntman with close ups for Caviezel when Batman talks

I heard Caviezel's kind of walking a bit stiff these days on Persons Of Interest. Something to do with past injuries.

How about Sharlto Copley as the Caped Crusader?

So if this did theoretically happen would that make him the first actor to have played both Superman and Batman?

Consider the studio's point of view. There are a lot of candidates to play Batman who won't be pestered by incessant questions about being gay. Bomer is not one of those candidates.

    And no, life isn't fair.

That's a better idea than one might think at first glance. He certainly has the American accent down and would make an excellent Bruce Wayne. Bamber played Mephistopheles on stage to outstanding reviews. He's capable of casting a darker persona than you might think. I was always impressed with him on nuBSG. Moore didn't write for his character nearly enough.

Orlando Bloom is all KINDS of wrong for the part. I still say Jensen Ackles would make a very effective Batman. He's a fine actor.

Caviezel looks more like the Ted Grant/Wildcat type than Bruce Wayne/Batman. So if they ever do a Wildcat film he's the guy!

Matt Bomer may or may not be suitable for the role based on his merits as an actor. I fail to see, however, that being gay has any bearing on the matter whatsoever. It is 2013, after all, not 1953.

Exactly. Jodie Foster and Neil Patrick Harris and Ian McKellen aren't exactly scrambling for parts. In fact, if word got out that an actor was not hired because of sexual orientation then the film could be seriously damaged.

    Cavill was McG's Superman.

Just like Matt Bomer was Brett Ratner's Superman.

Cavill was also up for Twilight and Casino Royale.

Caviezel might be the longest shot considering he's on a full-season TV show that requires 8-9 months of shooting. The ones on cable TV (Bomer, Hamm, etc.) would all depend on where their TV shooting schedule lines up.

I haven't seen Bomer in much but the guy definitely has the right look to play Bruce Wayne. If he's a good actor who cares if he's gay? That would be like getting all worked up because he's a vegan and I like eating meat. It has absolutely no bearing on how he will perform the part.

How much of the media actually cares that a gay actor is playing nuSpock in the new Trek movies? I don't see anything.;)

I didn't even know he was gay; that's how big a deal it is.

I could care less if he is gay. For me my choices to play Batman are between Bomer and Caveizel (I think I butchered the spelling).

My important criteria is how they look and act. Thier sexuality is none of my business.
