Ok I know I mentioned that all these new books made my head spin trying to figure out what comes out when, I was just about to, finally, get out my trek books on a shelf. I loaded up the wiki on star trek novels and I saw a new series featuring the TNG crew. Cold Equations (2012-2013) Star Trek: Cold Equations is a trilogy authored by David Mack. Featuring the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Cold Equations Book 1: The Persistence of Memory; 30 October 2012 ? Cold Equations Book 2: Silent Weapons; 27 November 2012 ? Cold Equations Book 3: The Body Electric; 13 January 2013 ? Looks like for me one a month now until at least next January.
David Mack did talk about the upcoming books last week in his trekradio interview. If you are interested(?), you can listen to it here: http://www.trekradio.net/on-demand
I guess you're not a Ray Bradbury fan. Or a Walt Whitman fan. ("I Sing the Body Electric" is a Whitman poem from Leaves of Grass, and the title of a Bradbury story that was also made into a Twilight Zone episode.)
Soong androids...maybe....perhaps...possibly pull that trigger damnit. Wonder if this is false god centre, cytherian centre, or a new centre centre.
Hm..... Not to sure about the Wesley Crusher bit, but who knows. David Mack has never really disappointed me. Even Zero Sum Game, which I don't really like that much, had some good moments.
Dunno about that one...can't think of anything I liked about it at all. I do normally like his stuff though.
I'm glad to finally know what Wesley has been up to. I'm thoroughly intrigued by what Mack has said about the story.
I'm one of the few people who actually doesn't mind Wesley, especially the last few years before he left the Enterprise, so I'm really looking forward to his appearance.
I for one will be excited to see Wes. I guess this will be the first time since his appearances in the A Time To series IIRC?
I've been mulling this over a bit more last night, and I have to say that the Wesley part is starting to sound interesting. I haven't read the A Time To... series, and I'm intriguid to find out how Wesley has developed after all these years as a Traveller.
I thought Wesley rejoined Star Fleet? I could have sworn I saw him in a uniform at Troi and Rikers wedding in Nemesis? I could be wrong though
It never made sense that Wesley would just go back to Starfleet after a) growing frustrated with Starfleet and realizing it had never been the right path for him, just what he was expected to do by others, and b) evolving to a higher level of existence that would let him fulfill his true potential. So, fortunately, the novels (specifically A Time for War, A Time for Peace) explained his presence at the wedding as only a temporary visit, and his presence in uniform as... well... a matter of convenience.
Yeah, there was a deleted scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACQqe5-B3TI Thankfully, since it wasn't in the final movie, treklit was able to sidestep it. The Nemesis bit that did make it into the film was explained away in "a time for war, a time for peace"(brilliant book), which basically said that Wesley travelerported in butt naked, thinking that it was a betazed wedding, and picard got him a uniform. I much prefer the book version. While I have no particular problem with wesley rejoining, the way Nemesis did it was terrible(like most of the things nemesis did).
^Thanks guys I must have watched the deleted scene and mistakenly remembered it as part of the movie.
