Remember Fox did talk about wanting more cohesiveness amongst their X-Men films...actually I believe it was Singer who stated this when it was first announced that "Days of Future Past" was going to be First Class 2's title. So making "The Wolverine" a "sequel" of sorts makes sense with that regard. Story wise though and everything else I see no reason to be "worried". If it references "The Last Stand" it's not that much of a big deal. Mangold did say that the script re-write that occurred affected 80 percent of McQuarrie's script. I'm guessing this is what it affected now. As long as the bulk of the original story is intact I'm not worried one bit.
Based on what they said, I don't see the events of TLS playing that big of a role in the actual story. At this point I'm thinking it's probably just going to be the motivation for Wolverine being alone, and once he gets into the main plot of the movie it won't be that important.
I like the approach of a sequel rather than a prequel much more. It frees up the story and doesn't tie Mangold down to any previous continuity if he doesn't want to.
First teaser poster for "The Wolverine". Off to a better start than the "First Class" posters IMO. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=96471
I'm all for cute gals in leather bodysuits, but I doubt we'll be seeing many X-uniforms even with the time shift...
You mean you didn't want a silhoutte of Jackmans face enlarged with a color image of Hugh inside?! Yeah, these early Wolverine posters are very promising of the effort. Plus the set photos things look great for this film!!
Singer won't have anything to do with the next Wolverine movie, guys. He is going to be busy with the FC sequel.
I don't think anyone has suggested that Singer will have involvement with "The Wolverine" Dream. We were discussing the announcement from Mangold that the movie will be a sequel, and the possibilities that could arise from this. Not if Singer will be involved.
The new poster is fantastic. Mangold and Jackman had a webchat last night, anyone listen to it? I'm sure the transcript is easily accessible but I'm too lazy!
I'm anticipating a lot of love for this new poster too: http://www.totalfilm.com/news/new-motion-poster-for-the-wolverine
I love that poster. Everything about this film is hitting the right notes, I can't wait for the first teaser trailer.
