Ah, well a misleading inconsistency.. typical of Braga's writing. :p

    Sorry to hear this.

I have a beagle. They're the best dog nature ever designed.

    Porthos > Livingston the lionfish.

    That is all.

Porthos could eat Livingston in a fight.

that's a pretty old age for a dog, so not exactly a surprise

I wish dogs lived longer. At least as long as many domesticated cats tend to. If I had my druthers a dog would live at least 30 years and not get a single grey or silver hair until no earlier than age 28.

I know what you mean. I've always wondered why some evil people can live well into their 90s, but a dog or a cat, good creatures who only want to love and be loved, can't make it into the 20s.

Probably because they would eventually realize we had control of the refrigerator and the door and the snacks and were withholding these things and then they would kill us and eat us.

It would take dogs a good 25 years to figure this out and cats a good 35. This is why they need to die earlier otherwise they would all end up like ancient pet chimpanzees, mad and homicidal.

Aww, that's a shame. The owners must be devastated.

And nobody wants mad, homicidal chimpanzees.

    Well, except reality show producers.

    er, wut? :cardie:

Cats are vicious killers who torture wounded prey for sport, even if the have every reason to believe they'll be more than adequately fed by their human acquaintances. :p

    But they're cute.

Especially when they watch you and silently plot your death.

I once had a cat who figured out that I kept her semi-moist food pouches in a cabinet above the refrigerator. One day I came home from work to find ripped open pouches on the floor.

Some dogs are good at that sort of reasoning too.

    Trip would disagree.

    My dog... not Trinneer.

Goodbye, Porthos. You were the most true to form, consistently written character on Enterprise.

Porthos deserved his own episode, and not some innuendo-laden turkey where the poor dog is hovering on the verge of certain death.

We needed a Porthos-eye view of an episode with him coming across something aboard that sensors don't detect, with him barking or yelping for someone to come see.

I'm kind of surprised they never did that.
