Has anyone besides Shatner and Nimoy from the original cast or anyone from the other series casts, like Frakes, Burton or Spiner, given what they think about the new movie and if any of them are interested in going to see it?

I imagine they may feel it's not their place to "Steal the spotlight" of the TOS era. And I bet seeing as most them aren't as anal as alot of fans, they'll be a part of the red carpet screening. :)

I seem to recall Burton saying he thinks Trek should go forward from the 24th century, never back.

If they had or when when/if they do I am sure we'll hear all about it. :)

I don't see Trek hitting a sign that says "DO NOT ENTER" at the end of the 24th century. If this film is successful we/he may still get that wish and I hope we do. But we need Paramount to believe Trek is viable again, and we need someone to step up with new story telling that is capable of expanding that part of Treks future because honestly it was gettting so advanced and relying on technology so much it was gettting boring.

A tempory jump back to a less advanced era is going to be fun IMO.
Then maybe we'll learn something new to take into the future.

To be entirely fair, they're actors, people paid to portray fictional characters. I couldn't give two hoots as to what Jonathan Frakes has to say about this movie, no more than I care whether Christopher Lambert has anything to say about the rumored Highlander remake.

The surviving members of the TOS cast have all spoken very positively of the new film. I'm not sure about George, but Walter and Nichelle visited the set during filming and met their young counterparts. All went very well. Nichelle in particular said that when she stepped onto the set, the cast and crew stopped what they were doing and treated her like royalty.

Frakes is also a pretty good director, and if he has a professional opinion about that aspect of the new film, I'd be willing to take it into consideration.

Despite his involvement with the ENT finale, Frakes has been a good franchise cheerleader for a long time.

There is no difference between the technology in any of the series - it's a guy on a warship with a radio and a gun and someone saying "Shields down to 50%". The scientific concepts in star trek have never progressed in any meaningful way.

Better my cell phone than Stuart Baird. I have a Motorola Q9c and I think it has more directorial skills.
