Indeed, this would be a great "remaking of" book or movie (or both). Pitch this idea to the appropriate people, and maybe you could recoup some of your investment?

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing Galileo back to her beautiful self!

Question: Are there any plans to do any type of interior restoration? I know the interior set was larger than the exterior but thought that some type of compromise could be made to do something with the interior instead of just displaying the shell.

Thanks for the link, Forbin. An interesting and tangled web of history for this poor old prop. The history there isn't completely up to date, though. Still, it's amazing how it was completely restored at one point, but then left to be exposed to the elements thereafter for many years, resulting in gradual deterioration yet again. I had no idea there were 3 separate attempts to restore it.

Anyway, great to know it's in enthusiastic hands this time around with a group investment to help finance the restoration. It would be terrific if the owners could provide photos during the process and even grant limited viewings to people by conditional arrangement.

Hopefully the shuttle's new owners will coat it with real duranium this time around, in case it is left outside again.
