This isn't really newsworthy, but it appears actor Wentworth Miller recently made the announcement . While most people would think "Who cares?!" there are others who applaud an LGBT celebrity's coming out, giving hope and inspiration to younger gay people, especially those victims of bullying.

All the best to Mr. Miller.

Continue? The lad has been asleep at the wheel since Prison Break finished.

    Hmm?

    Deathstroke?

It was a minor role, completely overshadowed by Sportsmaster.

    Wait?

    Rob Lowe was Captain Marvel?

    Weird!

He's been writing, he wrote the screenplay for Stoker.

I'm less concerned about his coming out than for the classy and politically important way he did it.

He's probably older NOW... But surely your mental snapshot of the man is from ten years ago?

If I suddenly became famous I'd be scratching around wishing I had something to announce. I think we are almost on the cusp of falling over the edge of the brink of the line drawn here where you're talking to yourself.

But maybe that's only me in the land of apathy.

I think his timing is good considering what is going on in Russia. Good for him.

So does that mean that you've never seen Prison Break?

    Season one is really good.

Buyer beware on the subsiquent 3 years.

I'm guessing his career has dried up if he has to resort to phoning his publicist and demanding they tell the world his sexual orientation.

Will young gay people at school really find it particularly inspiring that a millionaire had to keep his sexuality secret for decades and decades in order to increase his chance at success?

Speaking as a gay male? It certainly can't hurt to know that there are more gay people out there.

It's amazing how for being someone who allegedly has nothing against gay people, you're always Johnny on the spot when it comes time to make the most negative assumptions about them possible or to defend someone who is being rabidly homophobic. Why not sit out a couple of threads so your tolerance level has time to recharge a bit?

He came out publicly because he was invited as guest of honour to a Russian film festival, the point was to draw attention to their atrocious laws. It was very thoughtful of him to out himself like that.

It's pathetic people would cynically attack him over this.

You're really playing that card?

I'm the guy that spent a whole Doctor Who thread defending JNT, and defended gay rights in the Orson Scott Card thread. Think before you spew your hateful shit. Hell, I've even done gay stuff myself.

Calling me a homophobe for giving my opinion on a publicity event? How that fuck is that acceptable? I'm tired of you thinking you're above every forum rule just because you're a moderator.

This is the part where you insult other users just for being friends with me. Go!
