    Z-Nation.

    Was I watching a farce?

I'm fine with comedy-horror, I love comedy-horror, but if this is supposed to be adult ultra drama, I don't think I want to be an adult anymore.

I saw more killings here in 40 minutes than the last 3 seasons of the Walking Dead.

At least that creep Michael got what he deserved for shooting Libby.

Definitely not on the same writing level as Walking Dead. I will give it a "Doesn't suck" for watchability.

Oh, and we have to call leader guy, with his hair and stubble/beard "Not-Rick".

Dunno, was pretty bad. Will give it one more shot, as pilots can be rough, but not holding out hope. Poor writing, just barking out orders, abrupt cuts to commercial, just not a lot going for it. No real reason to care about the characters, and no feeling of horror. Just missed the mark

I watched it for half an hour and gave up. Admittedly, I am sick with a cold at the moment and really wanted to get to bed, but damn, this show was truly terrible.

I knew going in that it was produced by The Asylum, so it was guaranteed to be cheesy and cheap, but I was okay with that. Sometimes The Asylum can pull a movie out of their ass which isn't completely bad.

But yeah, Z Nation was terrible. There wasn't anything enjoyable. The worse part is, it seems they're trying to play this seriously when a better approach would have been to play it for laughs. At least then the cheapness and the cheesiness could work to enhance the entertainment, instead this just turned into a waste of half an hour. I'm not continuing to watch this.

Wow. So SyFy told the Asylum to make a cheap Walking Dead knock-off and this was the best they could come up with?

Figures the brother didn't even make it past the first episode... :shifty:

He is also the most famous, therefore most expensive to keep around... No... DJ Qualls is sorta a movie actor?

    Barely.

My clearest movie memory of him is in The Core.

He was a whiny bitch in that too...

God, that was awful. Did they still the CGI guys from the Chucky franchise for the baby zombie? Cause it looked like it came right out of one of those flicks.

    Here's the problem.

If it's cheap as fuck to make, and SYFY only expects needs almost no one to watch it to cover their expenses, Z-Nation is not going to be cancelled.

    Oh.

And if that guy has antizombie-antibodies... After I asked him to piss in my mouth, and I licked all his open sores, I'd work my way back down to some ordinary tame gay sex, on the off chance that what he's got is transmissible by the usual means.

Yeah... that was pretty bad. You can tell it was trying really hard to be a faster, crazier, and more action-packed Walking Dead (which I would be fine with in theory), but it was just completely incapable of creating ANY sense of dread or suspense whatsoever. And there was nothing remotely unique or original or clever in any of the writing either.

It was basically just a bunch of random zombies chasing around a bunch of random nobodies.

    Rule of thumb for contractors.

There's 3 ways you can have your project committed.

    Fast, good or cheap.

You can have two of those at the sacrifice of the third.

Fast and good means that it will be expensive.

Fast and cheap means that it will be shoddy.

Good and Cheap means that it will take forever.

    :)

These rules apply to most anything else too.

This show is filmed in my town. There was a casting call here for zombies this summer but for whatever reason I decided not to go.

I'm curious, is it sharing production with SyFy's other show Zombie Town? (a "reality" show about a town involved in making a zombie movie)

It would seem a prudent way to share costs.

I haven't heard anything about a show called Zombie Town filming here. I'm not even sure where Z-Nation is filming, I certainly haven't seen any filming going on.

Of course, if it's meant to take place years after an uprising, I doubt they'd film in a populace part of the city. From the few articles I just read it looks like they're using Spokane to stand in for all kind of places in the USA (deserts, mountains, forests, etc. )

It was OK. If it's on and there's nothing better to watch, I'll stick with it, but I won't hesitate to drop it if something better comes along, and won't be upset if it's cancelled.

DVRs means that no one has to watch anything live any more.

I mean seriously? 3 hour video tapes! How did we manage?

If that was directed at me, I don't have a DVR.

    You're in a weird place.

There are no more video players left, and dvrs still too expensive.

I already figured that out since you are talking about real time viewings.

Like Bernie Mac talking to America, I think I was talking directly to 2014 as if it was a person.
