Yeah, SW is JJ's dream. I don't see him just up and walking out.

J.J. on the verge of quitting star wars is still a pretty interesting rumor.

"Naturally, they denied" ? I love the win-win in this. Deny, it's true. Confirmed, it's true. Ignored, it's true.

I can here the whole debate at Disney Studios now:

"Should we alert the press of JJ's departure?"

I don't think that phrase necessarily carries the assumption that the report is true, but rather reflects the history of studios denying this sort of thing whether rumors are true or not. For example, when rumors spread that Raimi's Spider-Man 4 was in trouble and headed for cancellation reps for Columbia denied it. Whether this Abrams rumor will be one that's borne out or whether it's one of the many that prove unfounded remains to be seen, although the fact that Badass Digest has edited in a backtracking addendum points to the latter.

Since the article came up with all of this because hedid not attend a con....

    this seems kind of foolish.

I've got it. So, Klingons, and prelude to war with same.

Kirk and Marcus are dating. Marcus is secretly pregnant. Marcus gets captured by Klingons and is killed as a demonstration of resolve.

"You Klingon bastards you killed my unborn son!"

    Eh? Ehhh?

But seriously, Klingons. As others have said, the whole Organian intervention will probably not happen this time. I suspect had both parties not landed on Organia it never would have.

And then the Enterprise blows up.

And then Kirk kicks one of the Klingons off a cliff.

And we've just spoiled the third act of Star Trek III.

I'm actually hoping for a Klingon war story for III, I want to see a 'Return of the Jedi' style space battle with klingon battlecruisers and starships slugging it out on a grand scale - something I was hoping for in STID - don't get me wrong I want a decent Trek story, without any of the dumbness that was in STID, but I see the ships as characters, especially the Enterprise, and I want to see her in action, not getting a pasting without firing a single shot back!

    Uh-oh.

I actually enjoyed the first G.I. Joe, but the second was just meaningless incoherent fighting. I couldn't tell the goodies from the baddies. And I'm only 29, dammit!

Doesn't sound like a promising choice, Retaliation was a mess.
I'll keep hoping for someone much better.

How about a Yesterday's Enterprise type of story, lots of ways to bring back Shatner, even to be killed off in a death that means something at the end.
