The second one moreso than the first was very "comic book-y" with Galactus and the SS as the heavies.

New trailer on ComingSoon is cool as well. The idea of these guys being a ragtag group of misfits up against a much bigger threat is coming through really strong so far, and already has me wanting to root for them.

Which is a really good sign, I think.

I'm guessing with less than a month to go before the film's release, that we're not getting a novelization. I guess there is still time to announce something, but it seems very unlikely. Disappointing, if this turns out to be the case.

I'm glad the focus of the 'main man' of the MU seems to be shifting from Iron Man to Cap.

I cannot believe how incredibly cheap this film looks...

I really enjoyed IRON MAN I and II and even HULK, did not like THOR and CA. But all of those had incredible production values. Great costumes, awesome setdesign and superb SFX (except for the finale of THOR and the whole CA film... those were terrible).

In AVENGERS the costumes look like in the earlier StarGate Seasons: Cheap, like from a costume shop. Just look at the Cap's costume and compare it to his stand-alone film... What the...
The sets look so fake. They look like sets for a low budget TV show.
And what happened with the SFX? Iron Man looks completely fake and CGI. His movement is over the top.

The Helicarrier CIC set alone looks pretty expensive.

    So, basically, "It's a FAAAKE!!!"

I'm gonna have to disagree, with the possible exception of Captain America's new costume not looking as cool as his WWII era costume. As for the sets and the SFX... I'm just not seeing it the way you're seeing it. It's not like this is Superman IV.

The costumes are the same as from the prior films (with the obvious exception of Cap) -- the reason they, and the sets, look terrible is that the lighting is absolutely flat.

As for Cap's costume, it works outside of the helmet, which is God-awful, because it's like an inch of rubber, and the way it was built makes Evans look like he has a chubby babyface, when in actuality he has ridiculously prominent facial features. It works fine in the concept art:

But in execution, it's just ... ugh.

Evans has said that he wanted to keep and update the First Avenger costume for The Avengers, but Whedon insisted on going for the more comics-accurate look, which reinforces my primary concern about this movie -- from everything we've seen so far, it just feels like Whedon playing with action figures. I'm sure it'll be a serviceable two hours of fluff, but the payoff for five years of world-building should be a little more than two hours of fluff.

Not liking the costume or set design is one thing. But they hardly look cheap or low-budget.

Honestly, looks as fake as the shopping mal that was StarGate Atlantis (and they wanted us to believe that this was an ancient city).
Maybe it really IS the illumination of the scene.
Thor's costume does look different. Too shiny.
Everything looks like they bought it yesterday, far too clean.
Dunno... I am starting to worry.
