THE HOBBIT (2012/2013): News, Rumors, Pics Till Release

Woohoo! I was just wondering about this the other day - about whether or not we might get one last production video before the premieres. Lots of fun stuff inside this one - including plenty of shots we haven't seen before. Loved seeing Howard Shore at work, too.

 

I purchased my ticket already for IMAX 3D, I'm cant wait to see the Star Trek trailer. Now the Man of Steel as well, cant wait to check that out as well.

 

Speaking of the premieres, when do you guys think I should put up the grading/review thread? The movie premieres in Wellington on November 28th, but doesn't release worldwide until December 13th. Should I do it before the world premiere (probably too soon IMO, since most of us likely won't be there) or a few days before it opens worldwide?

Yeah, no point in a grading thread when most of us cannot participate. If anyone here's fortunate to see it early, they can enlighten us here, then continue to share their insights in the new thread later on.

BTW - will we be immediately starting a new, separate anticipation thread for Hobbit 2? Or will we just continue here?

 

I believe we discussed that issue earlier and decided to just keep discussion for The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again in here. I'd originally started this thread to contain discussion for both movies (this was before they got split into three, of course).

And yeah, good points. I'll wait until we're a bit closer to the official release date before starting the grading thread.

 

Ah ... I must have missed (or not been lucid whilst reading) that discussion. Sounds like a plan to me.

 

I'm confused. The world premiere is today, but I can't find any info as to what time. (I want to know what time we can start seeing reaction on Twitter.) It looks like they've already done the red carpet walk and everything, but what is the actual time of the movie screening? It's ~8:50pm in New Zealand right now, so surely the movie must have already started. What time does the screening end?

Glad to hear such positive buzz ... but with such a captive audience, that's not necessarily surprising. I do wonder how a more public audience will react.

 

Thanks to TV spot #8 we now know that Glamdring finally glows.

Also I don't think anyone has talked about the scene that was released. Search youtube with THe Hobbit Sneak Peak which has Gandalf giving Bilbo a very Fellowship of the Ring Frodo Gandalf minute (it brought chills down my spine).

Lots more of goblins (or Orcs), THe Great Goblin, and what appears to be the new torture machines shown in the last Video Blog.

Lots and lots of tiny new additions.

And I am freaking out that we are still two full weeks away (though 2 weeks and 2 hours and ten minutes brings hopefully a great return to middle earth).
