Everybody Loves Martok

I just had a nice little surprise when I saw JG Hertzler on Everybody Loves Raymond! I think this is TV Land that I'm watching...

 

So, been missing that eye for a long time, huh?

 

I love General Martok!

He's like a drunk surly uncle, always hammered and pissed off. He'll hug you one minute and yell at you the next, but I always got that feeling that he had a soft gooey center and that inside he was alright. He's the kind of uncle who would come home drunk and pass out in your bed after vomiting on a school night but make up for it by taking you to a Sam's Club for a hot dog or bring you to a strip club and buy you a Sprite while he ogles the dancers!

 

I'd watch a Martok sitcom.

 

Co-starring W. Morgan Sheppard.

 

W. Morgan Sheppard is obviously the curmudgeonly father-in-law.

 

I bet there would be a lot of episodes with Worf, especially when they go targ hunting and lets not forget his wife!

What was her name again?

 

Sirella. The only question is - who gets to be the Marie?

 

I love the story of Hertzler's audition for the role of Martok; he through a chair against a wall!

I remember reading that too, I think in the defunct Star Trek: The Magazine.

And also they were already planning on taking out one of Martok's eyes, and coincidentally he had only one functional eye anyway. He had to tell them to swap the eyes, otherwise he'd be blind in the makeup.

 

Was he really blind in his left eye?

 

I didn't think he was, because I recall an interview in which he talked about nearly destroying a camera because he had no depth perception with the eye scar, and knocked into it with his big heavy costume.
