Have you guys seen Brannon Braga's recent Enterprise tweet here:

Do you think he is serious? Or is he just messing with the fans? Certainly sounds like a valid idea, though, don't you think? Well, it certainly would have been better than nothing.

    WHAT THE..

I think he thought of that the other day while on the toilet and couldn't get up fast enough to tweet it all the while laughing like an idiot.

It's been well documented that at the time, the producers had no idea who FutureGuy was, and barely even knew what the Temporal Cold War was about. It was a mandate that UPN thrust upon them, and wasn't originally envisioned by them. So I would guess that Braga is just being silly.

Agreed. I much prefer the explanation put forth in the novels. It literally would make no sense for Archer to be Future Guy.

Well, just because the Temporal Cold War plot wasn't B&B's idea originally doesn't mean they didn't have at least something in mind for an eventual pay-off. Sure, there never were any serious plans to conclude that storyline, but I don't think that has to mean Braga didn't have at least a hint of an idea in the back of his head.

I still think he could be serious and that a story actually showing this development could have been satisfactory. If done well, of course.

I don't care what he says. I hated the TCW, whatever it was supposed to be.

Christopher resolved it well enough for me,,,

Future Guy was a jerk who had the Suliban cowed before him.

You know... I believe it. I mean we already have alien Nazi's as canon so why not take it one step further for the ultimate facepalm?

That would be plausible. Therefore that can't be the right answer. :p

In that case, why weren't you using your resources to keep baseball from dying out? Priorities, man.

Obviously kept his indentity somewhat fluid then, and considered more than one option. Or simply heard some fan's deduction somewhere and with nothing ever committed to screen, thought it as cool an answer as any to say onstage.

It couldn't have been Archer, because a) he would have to have ended his days in the 29th Century... which I believe is the time worked out by Daniels in "Cold Front", as being where the Suliban's mysterious benefactor was from.

    and

    b) why would he be giving cloaking technology to an enemy intent on destroying Enterprise all the time anyway? To say nothing of Silik and his kind's genetic enhancements.

I've heard this theory before, but given what they established after "Broken Bow", I think you can safely rule Archer out.

This actually could have made for a nice twist, had the writers thought of it when they originated the future guy story-line. As the series stands, the idea that he's Archer just isn't a coherent pay-off, nor is it consistent with any behind-the-scenes statements in which the character's identity was never decided.
