Hello, One of the things I'm working on at the moment. This is the same size of the studio model at nearly 4 feet. Thanks for looking Start of the bridge module. The beginning work on the body, this will be vac formed so the sidewall proportions are slightly thicker for that purpose.
Outstanding as always. Are you detailing with kit parts or just scratch-building everything? If using kit-parts, can you list what's going into these? --Alex
Man that's beautiful! The detailing on the bridge area is positively stunning. Is that a 1/350 resin K'Tinga next to it for scale?
Thanks everyone. I cut the main body into 4 parts so they could fit my vac former. I formed them in 1/8" plastic, then joined them all together. Now I have a plastic shell for detailing. I did the same with the bridge earlier. And the ball.
REL, what is your tool of choice for scribing like this? And what kind of straightedge do you use that stays put while working and contours to the hull? I've tried this type of thing in the past but it always turned out a little sloppy... --Alex
Thanks. I use a dental type scribing tool, and use a thin metal ruler, or Dymo tape for contours. Here's some updates.
YES! I think I've finally found a rough/unfinished surface in one of REL's works! If you look along the back of the platform that holds the bridge, to the left of the trunk that has all the amazing piping, there's a panel with a rough seam that might need more putty and a bit of sanding. Or maybe it's just a bit of dust. Its amazing that it's this hard to find a flaw in REL's models.
