Thanks for the shout-out. I agree with you, that the real-world stuff with Lee and the little girl who must've been only four or five was better than the fantasy. It looked amazing though.

I hope people who had an interest don't forget about Hellboy 2 just because TDK is out. It suffered a mind numbing 70% in its second weekend, for obvious reasons--TDK, and not because it was bad and had horrid WOM. Its going to have that monkey on its neck as a worse drop than '03 HULK and it doesn't deserve it.
Agreed. But I think it's going to quickly get buried, with X-Files coming out next week which will likely take the second spot under Batman. Honestly, whomever decided to release Hellboy the week before the biggest movie of the Summer needs to be thumped. HARD. There was a week a while back, I think the week after Indy 4 where it seemed like nothing "major" came out. But, heck, a week or two earlier for Hellboy and would've stood a better chance. But it was completely set-up to fail this week. Any movie was. Oh well.
I believe Sex and the City was considered major and has proven that out. Plus it would've been Indy4 weekend 2 which has shown to be dominant. I week earlier would've been head-to-head with Will Smith's Hancock, not a good idea. Hindsight tells me maybe June 20th would've been good with Get Smart and Love Guru. It would've been counter programming to both and had a 2 weekend gap between superheroes Hulk & Hancock. Yeah, whats done is done.
Indy 4 was getting mediocre word-of-mouth and SatC was probably fairly "niche" so Hellboy would've stood a fairly better chance. But even before Ledger's death "experts" could've told you any movie opening the week before TDK was going to get its ass handed to it the following week and never recover. Hell, opening Hellboy THIS week would've given it better chances, or next week so it doesn't go up against Mulder and Scully. It wouldn't of been #1 in either week but it wouldn't of suffered such a huge drop trying to go up agsinst the biggest movie of the Summer in its second week. Hellboy has now only made $56m to its $85m budget. (No foreign takes yet.) I want to see a Hellboy 3 and it's not looking very good unless its DVD does well and that money is considered on whether it gets a sequel or not.
^^^ Indy 4 has not and did not get mediocore WOM. On the net, from fanboys who didn't get or appreciate the alien touches sure, but the masses did give it good WOM. A movie with a $100m opening with a current take of $312.5m and is the #2 highest movie currently of the year indicates very good WOM.
Well now that I've seen all the Summer Movies I've wanted to see (Plus some like Hancock and Wanted) I'll just say that this summer movie season has been borderline between lacking and relatively decent. There's been some great movies (Iron Man, WALL-E, and The Dark Knight) but I really can't bring myself to be excited about movies based on reviews or trailers. I finally saw the Xfiles 2 trailer yesterday and since there has been no buzz on it, I find myself wondering if this movie is going to flop. After a 8+ year hiatus, I would have thought there would have been more excitement but I haven't heard anything. The Mummy 3 looks interesting in a if I am in the mood I'll see it kind of way, but that's pretty much it. Time to look forward to the Winter movie season now with Quantum of Solace on the horizon.
So you go to see a movie based on hype? Sort of like all of the other lemmings in the nation? Erm, OK. Why no hype around X-Files 2? It was a TV series that, mostly, whimpered away several years ago. I'd say more than anything else the movie is for the remaining fans of the show.
