Following on (sort of) with my last challenge theme of dreams denied or snatched away, and in view of the holidays as a time where dreams are often fulfilled, I present the December challenge: this month's challenge is to tell a tale of a dream (or dreams) fulfilled; it can be a warm and fuzzy story, or perhaps one of "be careful what you wish for". A holiday motif is up to you, but it would fit this time of year.

    And now, The Rules:

    • Word limit: 10,000 words max, with a little wiggle room above or below.
    • Story must be original for this month’s challenge, nothing posted here before please.
    • Let’s keep the challenge in the Trek arena, canon or your personal fic.
    • Only complete stories will be eligible; finishing the story before posting it is a good idea.
    • Post a link to your entry in this thread when you’re done.
    • Contest to run until midnight (US Eastern Standard Time) December 31st, with voting to follow from Jan. 1st to Jan. 3rd, 2013... assuming the Mayan thing is bogus and the world doesn't end mid-December ;)
Any questions can be directed to me here or via PM.

    Allons-y!!

Who knows, perhaps last month's low will be beaten and December will have zero participation?

    You're as cheery as ever.

We had quite a number of participants in October and this theme has a lot of story potential. So I'm optimistic.

Pretty mediocre-sounding challenge in my opinion.

At least last month's sounded fun, even though it inspired precisely one person to participate.

This one just sounds a bit bland.

Well, if you participate and win you can set your own exciting-sounding challenge.

I consider myself to be more akin to a film critic than a film maker I'm afraid. Play to our strengths and all that.

Kevin Smith on critics and creation:

Rated M for language, but gets to the point.

I'm not really in the mood for watching nine minutes and fifteen seconds of Silent Bob I'm afraid.

S'okay. Everyone who does will get the point you insist on missing.

Wonder how many entries we'll end up with this month?

I'm quite looking forward to entering whatever January challenge is concocted once Christmas and New Year are out of the way!

Ladies and Gentlemen (plus anyone else out there I missed),

Here is my fan fiction entry for December, entitled "Gift of a Lifetime": http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=198022

First time in a long time posting anything, please add any comments you might have. I've been working in my own universe for a long time trying for publication, so this is a check of if my skills are any better than they used to be!

Thanks for reading it and the other entries this month.

But please hurry to read it, I forgot to post a link in the thread until 50 days after I put it in lol
