Apparently there is a nova occurring right now, in the constellation Delphinus. There's also a video of it on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kf00p4NF97s
Prayers for all the unfortunate souls that died when their star, Delphinus 2013, blew up, even though they were given clear warnings and offered plenty of opportunities to evacuate over the preceding centuries. Some species are just stubborn.
At least it wasn't a quantum implosion... that would have produced a Level-12 shock wave that would have destroyed everything in that system.
Thankfully, Captain Picard will be at the right spot at the right time to encounter their space probe.
Of course it actually isn't happening right now. We are just now seeing the light from it going nova.
And I read yesterday that there's a solar wind headed our way this week, so we're all doomed. DOOMED!
"For heaven's sake, Delphinus V, the plans to demolish your star system to make way for the hyperspace bypass have been in your local planning office on Rigel VII for the past hundred star-cycles! "I'm sorry, but if you can't be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that's your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams!"
