I wonder how this will stack up against Star Trek: A Comics History?

"New Life and New Civilizations: Exploring Star Trek Comics" is a collection of essays by people with an interest in Star Trek comics. "Star Trek: A Comics History" author Alan Porter is a contributor to the new book. I wrote an essay for the book too and I'm looking forward to reading all the other essays.

I've also got a piece in the book, examining WildStorm's all-too-brief run.

Every time I see that cover I ask myself why is Frasier Crane reading a Star Trek comic.

It's not Frasier Crane, it's Morgan Bateson when he was just a ensign.

Cool! I especially liked Divided We Fall, the DS9 relaunch/TNG crossover.

Me, too. The writers really seemed to improve (over the course of four issues) on how to tell a Trek story in the comic medium. I genuinely wish they had been given more opportunities to develop their comic-writing muscles.

In fact, I'd love to see most of the contempary Treklit writers either try their hands at writing a Trek comic for the first time or be given further opportunities to return to comic-writing.

A Titan comic series by Christopher, a comic about 24th century Trek politics by KRAD, a DS9 relaunch ongoing by DRG3, Mack on an epic TNG miniseries event, Beyer handling a new Voyager series...etc.

If I may...sorry for the hijack...

I have several Star Trek comics I'd be interested in knowing the value of (if any). If anyone could direct me to a decent resource for this or please email me at rich@classicpowellrod.com to discuss it further I'd really appreciate it. I am frequent visitor to some other forums but not this one. If I have committed an egregious breach of etiquette please forgive me and let me know. Thanks,
    Rich

"New Life and New Civilizations: Exploring Star Trek Comics" is scheduled to debut at Shore Leave this weekend. I just posted an interview with the book's editor, Joseph F. Berenato, at TrekMovie and the table of contents, in case you're interested.

    http://trekmovie.com/2014/07/30/tre...ng-star-trek-comics-preview-author-interview/

If you're going to Shore Leave, be sure and attend Joe's panel on Star Trek comics. Several regulars in this forum will be joining him.

Hi Ian. No, I won't be there. I wish I could.
