Ms Kennedy said he was committed to ep7, 8 and 9, so i suppose its possible others will get a shot at spinoff movies.

Even if the spinoffs are scored by someone else, I'd expect they'll still use the Williams themes (like the various video games have done, and like the later Harry Potter movies did).

My very cautious optimism has peaked a little further.

That's great news. Everything I've seen so far tells me they're doing this 100% right.

Very cool. I'm glad they are keeping continuing the tradition of him being the composer for the movies. Sure, someone else could do it, but it just wouldn't be the same without Williams music.

I just really hope they've got a backup composer picked out in case, God forbid, Williams dies before the trilogy is complete.

Say what you will about the prequels (and I've said plenty), but their music is quite nice. Even if these films are another total loss (and with Abrams behind the camera, I doubt it), Williams can always offer them some value on CD.

Yeah. Though the original Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back probably have my favorite music in the saga, The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones have a lot to like, too.
