A random thread: do you often listen to Star Trek music in a situation, and you find out it actually fits it well? If so, what themes do you find most useful in different scenarios? ie-Final Flight from Nemesis while jogging?
When I first read the title, I thought this was gonna be about dramatic themes, you know, story elements. I didn't know we'd be discussing music. I'll try to think of something and come back later.
Yes, every time i'm in a fight for my life against my best friend, i'm humming the music of Amok Time. I do listen to too much Trek music in the car, though.
I can sometimes imagine hearing the opening (or main) theme to Star Trek XI whenever I'm getting ready for a long drive somewhere. Then I kick right into the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" as soon as I hit the highway.
Same. To answer the OP's question: no. I rarely listen to a show/movie/game's music while not viewing/playing it, because in most cases, even if it's a very good piece it usually doesn't work on its own. Exceptions: "The Rains of Castamere" from GoT and the main theme from MGS2.
I will hum TOS music, sing Faith of the Heart and probably a few other Trek riffs to go with different discussions. Of course my audience knows the music as well as me.
