I didn't read a lot growing up for the most part so I didn't really get into the books till the 90s but I read the Return first followed by Crossover. The latter is still my favorite book, although I did enjoy the Shatnerverse books, even with as goofy as they get.

Probaby one of the old James Blish paperbacks which I checked out from the library. Can't remember which one.
Star Trek TNG: Rock and a Hard Place. Was one of only 2 ST books available at a local library here in Chennai, India way back in '97-'98
Some of the Blish novelisations of episodes. The first novel I read not based on a tv ep was Spock Must Die.
One of the first Startrek novels I read was the Wrath of Khan novelization.Then I read Covenant of the crown, The Final Reflection and Corona these were the very first Startrek novels I ever read.
Orion's Hounds was my first, I was curious about the Titan series. The Good That Men Do was shortly after due to my hatred of These Are the Voyages Admittedly, I may have skipped a few pages in the middle when they get a little slow but for someone that's never read a book all the way through it's impressive.
Either The TMP novel, The Entropy Effect (which I can recall pretty much nothing about) or one of the Blish adaptations. It was a long time ago...and far far away.
The only Trek novel I've ever read was called The Lost Years, or something like that. That's been close to 20 years ago, probably. Is anyone here familiar with it? If so, how is it regarded in the world of Trek novels? I've sort of been interested in reading more, but I'd likely be very selective.

There were actually several books published under the Lost Years heading, but the first in the series was called The Lost Years with no sub-heading (the others were A Flag Full of Stars, Traitor Winds and Recovery). I read it around that time myself but I can't honestly remember an awful lot about it.
I don't think there was a sub-heading, so it was probably the first one of that series. The only thing I remember about it was an explanation of Spock and his "katra," which is supposed to be his soul/mind, I guess.
