I was just watching Star Trek V and I noticed something. As the shuttle leaves Nimbus III, you can see in the shuttle:

    Kirk
    Spock
    McCoy
    Uhura
    Sulu
    Sybok
Sybok's bald sidekick from the first scene of the movie
    St. John Talbot (Terran Ambassador)
    General Korrd (Klingon Ambassador)
    Caithlin Dar (Romulan Ambassador)

And nobody else. I don't see anyone else on the shuttle as they approach the Enterprise.

Once they crash land in the shuttle bay, after everyone I've mentioned above has exited the shuttle, about 8 or 9 of Sybok's followers walk out of the shuttle behind everyone else.

Oh, those Federation shuttles. They're tricky...

Where were these people on the shuttle? Were they hiding under the floorboards? That's almost 20 people altogether that should have been in the shuttle. Did anyone else see Sybok's followers in the shuttle? Because I missed them.

Along with brainwashing, Sybok can magically turn his followers invisible, it seems.

    :wtf:

They were kept in transporter suspension, obviously.

David Warner's Talbot character mentions that once they're aboard, they'll begin bringing the rest of their followers aboard.

Doesn't really answer your question, I know! :)

The Enterprise has more than one shuttle. When The 'Bok took over, he had his peeps shuttled up.

Except that the moment the shuttle came aboard the ship then immediately warped away from the planet, AND the transporter wasn't working, so whatever was on the shuttle was it. Too bad, loyal followers left behind!

    ^ Exactly as the above.

The trouble with that of course, is that there isn't time enough for more than one shuttle to reach the Enterprise, before it went to warp to avoid the Bird of Prey's torpedo.

Then it's a continuity error. Oh well. Thread over.

Ah yes, in that case, never mind. It must have been a TARDIS shuttle, like those 16 that carried 800 survivors from the Kelvin in the last movie, or that tiny Maquis ship that somehow fitted Chakotay's entire crew in "Caretaker"

The Federation must have perfected clown car technology.

...The funny thing is that this movie introduces a shuttle specifically tailored for moving a large number of troops. There's no logistical reason why Sybok's faithful disciples couldn't be aboard that craft.

That is, there's room for the troopers to sit on the fold-down side benches, out of sight of the camera that only follows the talking heads of the more central characters (or, the rare once, moves down to cover the seated Uhura and Sulu who in turn obscure the aft of the cabin with their upper bodies).

Sybok cleverly had his followers sneak aboard the Enterprise-A earlier - they were hiding out on Deck 78.

Once their pain was removed, they took up a lot less space.

You can see the followers sitting in the background here. Watching this shot in motion I count about 4 or 5 people sitting down, and there's a shadow that could be more followers sitting opposite. A few seconds earlier though there's clearly no-one on the other side of the shuttle when Kirk etc are all wandering about the back. :)

If Vulcans have eternal souls that can be stored inside someone else's mind for the trip back to Vulcan to resurrect the recently departed, I see no reason why a bunch of extras.... I mean Sybok's followers.... can't fit into that shuttle/magically appear out of thin air.

It's all a function of the Plot Hole, anyway. And we all know how gigantic the Plot Hole was in Star Trek V.

Shatner was warned by cast and crew members that he had the deck numbers listed in the reverse...and he didn't listen...he didn't listen!

So it doesn't surprise me you found another continunity error in the film.
