They are smart people, they knew the movie wasn't going to be as good as TWOK.

Most of them have likely never seen The Wrath of Khan. Just because Trek fans are OCD about it doesn't mean general audiences are.

I see they did a 60/40 split with World War Z instead of 50/50. Well, that's fine. They were determined to get World War Z to 200 million, by hook or by crook.

Actually, if you look at the full weekend chart and check the theater counts, WWZ was in almost 300 more theaters overall than Trek. Only certain chains were showing the double feature.

Just saw the 9 pm show in IMAX in Singapore. About 15 people in the theatre, its a small theatre. Not terrible for an old movie on a Thursday night.

    Yes, that's what I meant. 1247 vs. 958.

And Into Darkness exits stage left.... 800 theaters yanked out from under it.

Hope the Japan numbers gave it a nice boost.

With ST09 there was a press release a week or so later that said 5.7 million sold, so I think we should get something saying about 2 million sold this time because the sales of BR/DVD are dropping every year.

Then in a few months they will be on the-numbers.com

2016 100% (there's no way they WOULDN'T release it in the year that's the 50tyh anniversary of the debut of TOS on NPC.)

If they don't release in that timeframe, someone at marketing/promotion will get fired. ;)
