Yeah, it's in the "woah, seems like I got more of this stuff" scene from the ninth movie.

Well she is portraying an immortal elf and Cate Blanchett ages like the rest of us.

The theme for Radagast The Brown has been made public.
Can't say that it grabbed me the way the music in the first trailer did. Still, it'll probably work well in context.

Also, it's pretty much confirmation that McCoy's in the first movie.

Wow ... that whole track had me off-balance from start to finish. Wildly eclectic ... energetic ... and both familiar and very different at the same time.

Which makes no sense, I know. Maybe I've just listened to the LOTR score too often. :p

    Still, I certainly enjoyed it.

It might work in context, but on its own it sucks.. really bad. The inclusion of the choir doesn't seem to fit, unless Shore's ego has grown at the rate of Jackson's

Yeah, it's a little odd. Hard to judge outside of its intended scenes.

Cate Blanchett does age, but not like the rest of us.

We should all be so lucky as to age like Cate.

31 minute long sampling of the soundtrack. I can view/listen to it here in Oz, but I've heard that the video is blocked in the USA on copyright grounds. Of course, it's still possible to find copies of it on file sharing sites, if you so desire.

Thanks for that RS link. Quite enjoyable.

For a few days last week, score samples were available here (the previews have since been taken down). I did get the chance to listen to all of the previews once. And while there were a couple of moments when I was reminded of Hugo, it was thoroughly enjoyable, despite the lack of context. There were enough returning themes (Hobbits/Shire; Mordor; Rivendell; etc.) to make it familiar, while expanding the palette. Tonally, it's not very different from LOTR - which says, to me at least, that the films themselves will be tonally similar.

Still with the addition of the diagetic tracks, there's a small, but significant enough difference to provide a unique personality for the Hobbit Soundtrack, as compared to LOTR.

Your most welcome. I think the score is beautiful, as well as the end song, had no idea who this Neil Finn is but I dare say he could give Adele an run for the Oscar.

He played in a band called Crowded House which used to be quite popular over here in Europe. But that was another century...

I think the score is beautiful. As someone mentioned before, it sounds rather familiar. Not sure yet about the end credits song though. Personnally, I prefer Richard Armitage's voice over Neil Finn's.
