I thought Dear doctor was about two completely different species evolving on the same planet, like a horse is not a human being but we are both on the same planet and one of us is top dog. The genetic fuck up that they thought was a plague which was killing off the top dog species was just some random shitty thing that happened. Dar Doctor was about social evolution more so than genetic evolution that the bitch (following the canine metaphor, that is the correct word.) race would be a slave class until the other died out.

    Two things.

With Dear Doctor I really didn't get the impression that the second species (that we meet) on the planet was a "slave race." Rather, species two were the local downtrodden, limited in where they could live, but they could walk into town and look for work.

I think Denobulan's (and perhaps others too) had figure out pieces of the puzzle that would be reveal in the episode The Chase. Phlox knew that some species were pre-programmed (somehow) to "evolve" into highly intelligent sapient humanoids. He was able to recognize in the second species the genetic markers that indicated they possessed this pre-programming. Phlox knew where their evolutionary journey was going, and what the result was going to one day be.

    Second thing.

With Threshold, they have a super fast propulsion that can get them back to Earth basically instantly, but the crew will start to turn into salamanders, but the Doctor has a cure for that.

So, why not install the propulsion in Voyager, go home, and have the Doctor cure the entire crew, the same way he did with Janeway and Paris?

For the federation and Starfleet, the warp ten drive would come with just another medical problem, that they know how to treat.

    :)

Janeway and Paris went to a near by planet that Voyager found at conventional speeds with their puny warp drive after a few days. Considering that Chakotay couldn't track the shuttle at transwarp, isn't it convenient that they could ping the shuttle's transponder on long range scans becuase there is no other way that they could have found that ship other than with blind luck.

Does that mean that Tom was getting stupider as the process towards Salamander continued, or did he want Voyager to find him and his mate after Janeway had given birth?

Slave wages in a free society can equate to the equivilency of a slave race.

Do you feel happy that a man will almost always get paid more for the same work for any job you might get? It might be getting better, but you can still smell where it used to be worse.

Social boundaries, class structures and glass ceilings.

Phlox got on his moral high horse because he believed that the sub species here was proably treated no better than than African Ameicans were in the 1930s. Free but still lower class. They only had access to low paying jobs, that a white person wouldn't do, and if a white person did do, they would have been paid double.

The subordinate Aliens would continue to be dominated and opressed becuase they were colossally outnumbered, and treated like the unclean in Aisan culture. Phlox couldn't see an out for them other than the complete destruction of the species holding their leashes, giving them lebensraum.

Although, if they were all super geniuses like Phlox suggested, once they figured out how dumb the master race oppressing them was, it wouldn't be that difficult to rise up and take over thier overloard masters? Not even through violence, but if even the least of them was the social equivilent of a 20th century multimillionaire, it's pretty easy to see that they would be the %1 running things even if the abusive thug race prancing about like they owned the planet didn't realise the change in regime had left them quite castrated.

There is a hole in your mind.

Slave wages is an everyday term for being paid less than minimum wage, or even minimum wage.

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=slave wages

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wage_slavery

It's a very common term, I'm amazed you've walked through life without hearing before now.

No more ignorance for you, you're welcome.

Meanwhile in SO CALLED civilized societies where slavery is legal (Ancient Rome, 19th century America), there is a legal code for the fair treatment of slaves and the legal rights of slaves, similar to the legal rights of animals today to be treated ethically, so yes slaves in certain positions in a dynamic, can have had allowances which equates to a version of income, which is how slaves where allowed to buy their own freedom or live a relatively nice life despite being owned if they were allowed to manage their finances right.

Again there is the difference between a slave who is a teacher or a butler, who might get an allowance, and a slave who digs in a mine til he dies quickly of old age or disease.

Yes, but IIRC, the doctor was applying destiny to evolution, which is complete nonsense. Evolution doesn't plan or see into the future.

Here's 8 likely outcomes of that situation while there were still several variables and both species had a foreseeable future.

    1. Mutually satisfactory coexistence.

    2. Mutually dissatisfactory coexistence.

    3. Segregation (like we have countries.)

    4. Mutual destruction.

    5. Domination of one over the other.

    6. Sole survival of only one species.

    7. Emigration off planet for one or both species the same new world.

    8. Emigration off planet for one or both species to different new worlds.

    ...

If one of those species is going to die out in a couple generations, you're left with these below, even though 7 and 8 are more about something to do after they have mastery of the planet...

    4. Mutual destruction.

    6. Sole survival of only one species.

    7. Emigration off planet for one or both species the same new world.

    8. Emigration off planet for one or both species to different new worlds.

Anyone want to speculate on when Janeway/Paris took place? When he was a monster and she human? Both monsters? Both salamanders? One salamander, one monster?

Enjoy the psychological scarring this question has brought you.

If the sex happened on the shuttle... There are security recordings of the sex act at best and universal translation audio logs at least.

Janeway is a porn star on Voyager.

As far as universal translation audio logs are concerned, would there be a privacy setting for sexual encounters, that it turns off as soon as bare genitals meet air, so that the poor buggers can't even talk dirty or give directions or request a changes in speed... Or is it more of an autodelete...

Was Kes, Neelix and the Kazon all speaking the same language? Did the DQ have Universal Translators before Voyager showed up?

Could you imagine the paper work you'd have to sign to allow the universal translator to keep your sex talk and grunts on the record FOR SCIENCE!
