I imagine if it wasn't as widespread a problem (ie: 100% of the sets apparently), they might have made the request for return.

I've never had defective discs, so don't know what the norm is.

Only other time I've had defective discs was with the Back to the Future DVD set framing issue but I never took part in the replacement program. This I'll certainly take part of since it is a pretty big problem.

On the sets, I sort of wish there were the Okuda Commentaries like the TOS sets had. I wonder why they didn't do that since the Okudas were obviously very involved with this project.

BTW- Where is the serial number on the disc? I can't find it anywhere.

I can barely make out the SL but cannot read the numbers. How in the world is a guy with eye over 50 supposed to see that small invisible print?

Well, that's just it, they are 'very' involved in the project...to the point of not having any time to dedicate to such commentaries. This is actually a much larger project to undertake than TOS:R.

Yeah, I finally found them. Took a magnifying glass and a flashlight to be able to make readable enough to write them down.

You need Geordi vision to read those frakking numbers.

And even with what I was using I wasn't entirely sure I could make them all out. It was pretty damn hard to read them.

This is going to be so mean, but I can't resist the joke: If you can't read that, are you sure a HD release was a worthwhile investment? :p

Yeah, dark 2-point font on a reflective surface, everyone should easily be able to read that!

A fun experiment. I play the Blu Ray on my home theater while at the same time stream the show from Netflix on my tablet. It can get out of sync at the commercial breaks, which may be timed differently between the two versions, but aside from that it looks and sounds as if the tablet is playing a degraded version of the same signal as the home theater.

It has the fade-ins and outs where a commercial break would be, with a couple seconds of black in between.

Regarding European disc replacements - I confirmed with CBS today that they are in the midst of putting a programme together for this and instructions for international customers will be announced as soon as it is finalised.

Wonderful to see such a great response after only 6 days of the blu-ray being on shelves!

In the meantime... our Blu-Ray screencaps continue, with some stunning images from the (not-so-stunning-episode) 'Code of Honor':

The Observations article will follow with our partners at Ex Astris Scientia very soon!
